Hey all Finally got around to trying Sumpin Sumpin the other day and loved it. I'd always avoided it since I don't really like the Lagunitas IPA (too bitter) or many IPA's in general (again, too bitter) but I love this. It's similar to Zombie Dust for me, in that it's got hop sweetness but enough malt in Zombie's case and just good smooth body in Sumpin's case to balance it out. Anyone have any idea what other beers might be A. Similar and B. Relatively widely available? Also, anyone know what the dominant hops are in this? Thanks!
Oddly enough, Lagunitas IPA is among my least favorite beers by them. Have you had New Dogtown yet? It might be more up your alley, nice hop aroma but also pretty well-balanced.
The Can You Brew It clone recipe uses Cascade, Centennial, Simcoe, Chinook, Amarillo, and Columbus for dry-hopping.
This might not help because it's not exactly widely available, but North Peak Vicious American Wheat IPA is extremely similar to Sumpin' Sumpin'. 6pks are pretty easy to find in MI/OH, but I'm not sure how far out they distribute. But it's exactly what you're seeking... awesome beer.. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/21497/62839
Thanks all. Being in Chicago, I've had a lot of Gumballhead and Oberon and love them. So good call. Haven't had New Dogtown. I'll look into that one. Someone gave me a Flower Power as an extra and I thought it was pretty tasty. Been awhile though, so I can't remember how similar it was. Anyhow, thanks for all the reco's.
