    Hi All,

I am heading to Sunnyvale on Sunday (8/4) and am in a boot camp of sorts (I work for NetApp in Sunnyvale).

I was hoping to hit BevMo in San Jose and maybe find some Pliny or other tasty treats but not sure I will have anytime (my schedule is a little nuts - very long days with dinners each night).

I have a few 4-packs of Heady Topper that I can pack but don't want to bring more than I need.

So I am hoping to set tup some pre-trades for anyone who may have Pliny and swap for very fresh Heady (canned Wednesday 7/31).

Please PM me if you are interested and if you have any suggestions for a 10 PM beer in the San Jose / Sunnyvale area - please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Rob

Wish I could help. Would love some Pliny but Sunday is the only day I won't be around San Jose. You won't happen to be there on Monday?

    As for suggestions:
    Downtown San Jose, hit up:
    Original Gravity
    Good Karma
O Flats might have some good stuff on
    Market Beer Company isn't bad

Bottle shops, I'd check out Bobby's in Santa Clara and Cask & Flask in San Jose. You may be able to find Pliny on the shelves there. Mapleleaf Liquors in San Jose is known to have some from time to time as well.

FYI, Bev Mo does not stock any RR products.

If you cannot work out a deal with anyone... check Whole Foods in Los Altos, Bobby's Liquors in Santa Clara, Clyde's Liquor in Mountain View, or Janes Beer Store in Mountain View. BTW, you won't find any Pliny at BevMo.

The Whole Foods in Cupertino is pretty good too.

Day 1 - hit Original Gravity (not a ton of IPAs on - I am a hophead who was looking for West Coast craziness) - did drink a couple pints of Ballast Point Fathom (it was superb) and quickly departed to put the Heady Topper on ice.

The Original Gravity crew was heading to Mikeller SF and I wanted so bad to call in sick to my Monday meeting and stow-away in trunk of their car.

I am aiming for Smoke Eaters tonight - couple IPA's (Coronado Idiot, Sculpin, Hanger 24 DIPA, Ninkasi Tricerahops and Speakeasy IPA) - so that and spicy chicken should take care of me for the night!!

Good Karma Cafe is on the radar but closed due to a remodel or something (according to Original Gravity folks).

Also looking at Harry's Hofbrau and may head to San Francisco on Wednesday for dinner and drinks.

I'm hitting up some of my contacts in the area (I'm from the Campbell/West San Jose area) looking for some Pliny. PM me if you'd be interested in any others. Pliny was just at most of the stores in the area and Good Karma would have it on tap right around now. St John's in Santa Clara off of Lawrence Express Way should have it on tap too either Thursday or Friday.

Big Dave - I got 2 x Pliny and 2 x Blind Pig from K&L (bought online and they are holding them for me to pick up).

I also have some HT for Pliny trades setup - so I will be heading home with a bunch of Pliny.

Mug - Good to hear (read)! If you're looking for the Coconut R&R, or Deschutes "Fresh Squeezed" to keep in your hotel fridge I can let you know where to obtain both for good prices too. Harry's in either San Jose or Redwood City should be stops of yours too!

Big Dave - I met up with a couple BA's last night - swapped 2 x 4 pack's of Heady Topper for some Pliny and other tasty treats.

We hit up Smoke Eaters (was bummed to find out Vendetta IPA, Ninkasi Tricerahops, Coronado Idiot had all kicked).

But had some nice Hanger 24 DIPA and then headed to Harry's Hoffbrau and grabbed a Tap-It IPA and a Mirror Pond Pale Ale.

Stuck in meetings so unlikely any beer venturing today but maybe tomorrow night.

I did find a place with Pliny on tap but not sure how long it will last. (they closed at 10 PM and we couldn't get there last night).

Wednesday should be fun - looking maybe at a road trip to San Fran!

My buddies and I usually head to SF and imbibe at Monk's Kettle in the Mission District. Their kitchen is open late, so you could possibly make this a stop and make it for a Friday or Saturday, depending on your work schedule while your in town.

So looks like no San Francisco - Todd and Jason are up and there and that's enough East Coast Beer Talent - I am heading downtown to Good Karma (they just opened (aka re-opened) from a remodelling stint and are evacuating their Bruery beers as well as pouring some nice IPAs - Pliny, AromaComa, and Racer 15) so that's perfect for my hop addiction.

Last night was awesome - found Wine Affair - great people, great bar, great wine and great beer. Pliny on tap was heavenly, Hermitage DIPA was very good.

Murphy Street was not great but one shining spot was Palace Cafe - had a Speakeasy Big Daddy IPA and the beautiful counter person sold me two bottles of The Mission Shipwrecked so I could sneak them across the street to dinner (which had the worst beers I have ever seen - total Bud house - Shocktop on tap, and one IPA in bottles - Lagunitas). I don't mean to restaurant bash but these guys were so proud of their wines (and they served us a crap red and crap white) for a rather large corporate function - the beer list was horrific.

I did grab an IPA at the Firehouse Brewery - that had a Coors Light sign in the window, Bud Light on tap and a bunch of other macro crap - and their brewed beer was front and center and not great. I was distracted by the "tilted kilt" attire of the amazingly attractive women (google tilted kilt - its a scottish themed Hooters). If Firehouse could just make a beer as beautiful as its waitstaff - I would happily go back and people watch.

There was an Irish bar (Fibber McGee's) that had some nice beers but not alot of great beers but not awful.

There was a bar with a hookah setup but only 2 out of 5 taps had any beer flowing out of them.

    Anyone up for Good Karma?!?!

I had it after a couple Pliny's and a pair of Shipwreck'd and I wasn't driving so memory recall is a little fuzzy.

Zanotto's Market Foxworthy ave has Pliny. Firehouse sucks now that the award-winning, sexy-haired Steve Donahue doesn't brew for them anymore.
