Here were my thoughts in another thread:

Sounds great! Interesting move on Sunshine Pils, I hope that doesn't eventually lead to the beer's demise.

...but the Pils market is pretty competitive now and I am not so sure that throwing one out there that has been known for strictly spring/summer is necessarily the solution. Don't get me wrong I love that beer but would I be inclined to grab it year round when I have many solid Pils choices? Not so sure. But just like SN Summerfest I will jump on it when I see it because I know it is seasonal.

This doesn't really effect Pikeland but I heard that they had to make separate cans for any of their pop top lid beers because of the laws in NJ so maybe it's a combination of a few issues.

Then it will be on my try again list. Thansk Jack.

This has been happening for a few years, ever since they introduced the 360 lid. The reason Sly Fox does not 360 all their beers is just as you said, the pop top is illegal in many states because of the littering laws. I think it's absurd in today's world, but there is no more "reasonable" in today's world.

Woo-Hoo! It is officially spring time: yesterday I bought my first Sunshine Pils 12-pack of the season. 19 bucks at Total Wine (Claymont, DE).

Keith (@Kadonny), Stoudts Pils was also on the shelf there.

    Cheers!

Cans of Stoudts? Great to hear about the Sunshine, I'm going to pick some up this week.

No, they were bottles of Stoudts Pils.

Keith, do you know whether Stoudts has their own canning line at the brewery? I suspect that they use a mobile canning service. I personally have had several sub-optimum experiences with Philly area breweries that can via mobile canning services. I personally avoid canned beers that was canned by mobile canning services.

    YMMV.

    Cheers!

I can't tell you for sure Jack, but my guess is mobile canning. I had cans last year and you can tell by the labels that thay are wraps rather than imprinted on the cans themselves, you can feel the seam.

That is what I personally use as an indicator that the can was likely canned by a mobile canning service.

Stoudts may be contracting with a quality mobile canning service but I have been 'burnt' too many times with poorly canned product from mobile canning companies that I personally refuse to purchase those cans.

    Cheers!

Be interested to hear what you think of this year's. Seemed to me that it was a bit heavier on the Saaz hops than I remember from last year.

Not sure how convenient this location would be, but if you are looking for fresh Pivo, there is a place off I-83 on the way to Baltimore called Shawan Beverage. They always have fresh Firestone Walker. The replenish the stock weekly.

Not convenient but I appreciate the input.

Lucky you that you can find fresh FW beers!

    Cheers!

Haven't seen any sunshine cases at the beer distributors but I did find 6 packs at the grocery store. The new labels suck but the beer is still good.

But that would mean their local distributor which handles Firestone-Walker would also have to be getting weekly shipment of fresh Pivo from California, after selling out the previous shipments.

I suppose that's possible, but I've never seen it. "First in - first out" is an industry standard (although it may not be lived up to all the time).

I can't wait to buy it again. It was one of my favorites last year. I drank it excessively on my summer camping trip.
