Having a Super Bowl party with some friends, and was planning to incorporate local beers from the Seahawks' and Broncos' home states. Obviously, Seattle and Denver aren't difficult places to find beers from, but figured opening up the selection to the entire states could just give us a few more choices.

As of right now, going with Oskar Blues and Avery from Colorado, and likely Scuttlebutt (and TBD) from Washington. Only about two of us are regular craft beer drinkers, so trying to play to the crowd without having to dip into Redhook or Pyramid.

What else should I be searching out, though? I'm in Southern California, so distribution's a factor for several of these. Still, figured I'd get a full list together before conducting a local search.

    Thanks for the tips!

Pike is in Seattle. My fave from them is their Barleywine, "Old Bawdy".

Elysian has a brew-pub near where the Seahawks play - I'm not positive they brew there actually, it may only be a pub...

I've yet to have anything from Elysian since they don't distribute down here, sadly.

Crooked Stave, Great Divide, Dry Dock, Odell, Left Hand, etc... don't even worry about that other state because they don't have a chance in hell!

Avery made a new brew called choke me Peyton, great name, hope it taste good (broncos lose). Don't know much other than Avery and Fremont, but I hate me some broncos.

New Belgium Rampant and Pike IPA are both described as 'dank.' Should be fitting for Colorado vs. Washington.

I haven't had Nomad from Great Divide, but it sounds excellent. It's a Czech Pils and could play really well with the BMC crowd. Not sure if you get it where you are, but it's worth looking into.

Czech beers would be more suitable for hockey... for two reasons.

I would like to know whether the mayors of Denver and Seattle and/or the governors of Colorado and Washington are going to make a friendly wager ,and if so, will it be beer, food, or that other stuff?

Rams fan here, gonna pull for Denver. I don't like those Seachickens. When it comes to Colorado I like New Belgium Ranger, Odell IPA, and Left Hand Milk Stout. I could drink those to a Broncos victory all night.

In light of distribution issues and the fact that you have to cater to non-craft beer drinkers, I'd probably be going with your choices too.

For you and your craft beer friend, I consider finding some Crooked Stave to enjoy who I am under the impression has entered the California market.

Left Hand Milk Stout always deserves consideration too.

If you're rooting for the Broncos, and Omaha Omaha Brett is all sold out, I hear New Belgium Snapshot should be out early that week, along with the Winter/Spring Odell Mix Pack.

Thanks! Will have to look into Crooked Steve. Also using this as an opportunity to get a scouting report on Colorado beers in general. Doing a five-day trip to Denver and Colorado Springs in May, so want to make sure I cover all bases when I'm there. Figured I can ID what beers I can find here with this exercise, and then make sure to seek out the ones that are CO-exclusive when I'm there.
