Anyone not supporting InBev is not going to put them out of business, and one more person supporting them doesn't ensure their success.....Vegetarians have been around a long time but my butcher still stays busy....
Big business is just that...BIG.They don't know and they don't care if you buy their product...someone else will.
Just do whats right for your own piece of mind.

You bring up a solid point about Wal-Mart. With just as much shady business practices they do (albeit Over-seas Atrocities) AB In-Bev is pretty much cleaner in comparison. Yet, who could argue that they will completely boycott Wal-Mart?

    This is an old topic.
The hate for inBev is simple to explain, it comes from harmful legislation that they lobby for against craft beer, bullying their way into tap lines and shelf space, and the fact that they continue to buy up craft breweries. Oh, and that commercial they made pissed some people off but that's whatever.

Some people care because it's hurting craft breweries they love, other people don't because they just want good beer. It all boils down to whether you think getting good beer is worth supporting a company that engages in the practices above.

Quick story...so was at a local bar with my lady friend last night...they had 3 IPAs on tap, Fiddlehead IPA, Goose Island IPA & Zero Gravity Conehead IPA. Decided we should try them blind and pick that way. Was shocked we both chose Goose Island...so guess what we got...Goose Island. Definitely not going to buy it with regularity...but tasted great last night.

Your convictions couldn't have been that strong if you'd compromise them for $4. Buy the stuff if you like, but be more honest with yourself about what you "hate."

I used to boycott Wal-Mart, not anymore. The reason? I tried to support Ma and Pa the best I could. Yet my money goes to the owners in turn that money pays a wage for Employees, who in turn will buy Wal-Mart. It doesn't really matter anymore to me.

Just curious, were the Goose Island and Red Hook beers you have reviewed and rated gifts?

In-Bev doesn't actually brew the beer. They just collect the profits and manage distribution. If I had to guess I'd say that GI is still brewed by the same beer geeks who are passionate about and love their product. If anything they now have more resources to do that.

^Technically they do if they own the brewery. Regardless of the label on the bottle, if you own the brewery you brew the beer.

I would hardly call goose island the enemy...unless you don't like bourbon county...who cares if InBev owns them. There has been zero drop off in quality and especially in terms of bourbon county, there is more to go around and they are experimenting more with their barrel programs both at goose island and bourbon county. (If anything they are better now)

Yes, hating a corporation because it's big is foolish. Hating a corporation because they lobby legislation against things you love is completely understandable.

But even hate is a strong word, I'd say I strongly dislike InBev, mostly because of the legislation they tried to push through last year via Kelli Stargel and Don Gaetz with their good friend Lewis Bear. They are the reason the 64oz growler bill didn't pass last year, they amended it to include all this BS.

So you guys can all ignore it if you want but they are actively fighting against craft beer.

Since the purchase, much Goose Island production has been moved to A-B facilities.

My thoughts are that GI's standard beers are pretty average. I get and support people who want to make decisions with their dollars, but for me a nice AAL hits the spot every once in a while. Also, for all the effort that that BIG BEER has made to destroy the "craft revolution" the industry we love is thriving. There are a lot of bad breweries and beers out there, though, but I don't see how you could blame that on ABInBev.

The regular production yes. Which has allowed them to greatly increase BCBS, and the Sour sister production here in chicago. Which in my mind is awesome.

If it makes you feel any better the people who work the bottling lines, drive the forklifts, drive and fix the trucks, work in their taproom aren't "big guys" they're actually regular people working hard trying to make a decent living at something they love.....and here's the part that's gonna piss off a lot of BA's....they're actually "locals" in their own communities too,
