Surly Abrasive in Chicago

Surly is having an Abrasive launch party at Northdown tomorrow. Expect to see it trickle into the market over the next week. Just keep an eye on bottle shops beermenus, FB, twitter feeds.

 

Nope, it's usually about now. The move to the new brewery about this time a year ago threw everything out of whack. Expect to see it until about January - February, then Blakkr should start showing up in its place.

 

Is Abrasive usually a one time shipment that disappears quickly and then doesn't show up again until next year? That's what I had expected, but the post above about it seeing it until January/February made me wonder if there are multiple shipments & canning runs of this that should be expected.

 

Usually multiple, from what I'd seen a couple years ago in MPLS. Chicago got a couple shipments last year if i remember correctly, but brewing was weird last year with their transition. I'd guess much more than Todd.

 

Last year seemed to be one shipment maybe because of construction so it looks like there might be multiple batches this winter, hopefully.

 

I didn't see any different dates for Axeman or Wet besides the usual few days. Anyways abrasive has official hit a liquor store in chicago.

 

Local bottle shop has one 4 Pack on hold for me...not sure how wide spread it is in MKE market. It just came in today.

 

I'd like to amend my previous post. It looks like some may start selling it tomorrow (and I've seen one listing on Beermenus tonight).

I was in there at lunch today and asked as well. At first, the guy said not until February, as that's when they got it the past 2 years. I told him that it was being released this week in Chicagoland, and he said it should come tomorrow (along with Founder's BB) based on the distributor. It's good to hear that you got the same response.

 

I was there at lunch as well and was told the exact same thing.

 

The guy at the Binnny's in Plainfield told me February and he had no clue that Abrasive is ready for distro in Chicago.

 

Went back to Binny's on Grand today at lunch, and they didn't get Abrasive in. They said it should be in next week....when I'm out of town on vacation.

 

Yep, they did have backwoods bastard though.
