It appears as if many Surly accounts have 1-23-15 abrasive, may have to ask as most stores probably still have older inventory

Just got my case of 01/09/15 from France44. Some of the cans have dents along the top, some don't. I went for one of the dented ones first - head dissipated quickly after the pour and it has an overall flat taste and very low carbonation that I don't remember from years past. I'll definitely the let appropriate parties know more...

@SurlyMan @GaryNicholas was the canning issue fixed for the 1/23 cans or is this a diff batch? Also I notice a lot of stores still selling low carbonation batch...have the stores been notified to alert customers who may not be aware of this issue?

This is the first of my 4-pack dated 1/9 (and my first ever!). I was super nervous, but this one is great. I did notice that 2 of the 4 cans have dents along the top, so I'm hoping I won't have the same experience as opothecary with those.

Had my 3rd from my 1/9/2015 cans and was still good. This will probably be the only 4 pack i get.

I just cracked the most dented can sent to me with "CANNED ON 01/09/15 01" in white print on the bottom. Carb was perfect as far as I can tell:

Best carb I've seen so far in my 1/09 case is one with a black dot at the bottom. The ones with blue or yellow marks in the same space had okay carb, but not great.

So far I've had 2 cans with blue ink splotches on the bottom. Both have had what I'd consider a high level of carbonation.

Had my first Abrasive (also first Surly beer ever) tonight and it's fucking fantastic! Canned 01/10/15 and while I'm not familiar with the beer, the carbonation seemed only a tad on the lower end for a DIPA but maybe that's how it is normally. It still had a head on it with a few tiny bubbles in the glass.

Beer #2 was one of the dented cans, and it is a carbon copy of the first (that is to say, fantastic). One had a pinkish ink splotch on the bottom and the other had a blue/greenish splotch

Ink Splotches have nothing to do with canning dates

I agree. My post was a counterpoint to someone who suggested there might be a correlation between ink splotch color and low carbonation.

This is going to sound really dumb but has anyone else noticed that there aren't any "floaties" in the cans this year? I remember previous years as having a ton of those flavor burst floaties. So far i'm 5 cans down, no carbonation outside of the inch when i poured it from a foot above my glass and ZERO floaties.

Yeah, I noticed that. Probably a filtering system at the new brewery. It shouldn't have any effect on the flavor of the beer.
