Watched someone emptying one of the fermenters around 3:30 today. There are sight glasses on them and it sure looked like Abrasive.

You mean they were actually selling cans on the upper level? Is that even legal for them to do?

Don't see why not. They sold cans at the old tap room. Assuming they were opening up there.

Yeah, for on site consumption only. Should have been more specific, sorry.

How busy is it there? Heading down tonight, just trying to gauge how busy it might be. Thanks.

Stub and Herbs tweeted a pic of fresh cans at the brewery earlier this evening. Exciting! Hope we get some down in Iowa shortly.

Bought a can of Abrasive at the brewery tonight...it tastes like Abrasive. Probably the highlight of an otherwise strange experience. They have a ways to go in their quest to be a "destination" brewery.

Explain yourself MJRyan. Otherwise, we's just out in the cold.

Shit, that was overly harsh. The beer was awesome. I work retail so drinking and posting this time of year is just plain stupid on my part.

Nah, I didn't think it was harsh. I'm just curious what didn't live up to your expectations from an experience perspective. I used to work in retail and customer service, so I have high standards as well. Sorry it's the holidays for your sake though aka Hell for retail workers.

It's just that normally I cut start up breweries a bit of slack. I know from first hand experience that opening a new retail business is fucking hard as hell. Surly isn't a start up, but in this sense they are. Okay, here is my main beef. I didn't go to Darkness Day this year, but I felt like I was there tonight. I was asked to tighten up the line. Really? See, I'm being harsh, it's their first weekend, but in a taproom/retail setting that was just weird. Also, the bartenders just yelled out "have your ID's ready!", really? This isn't a dance club, what the fuck? And no one ever said thank you, ever. It was like move along, we have beer to serve. It was just kind of strange, but like I said, I work retail and maybe I'm just drunk and overly sensitive at the moment. I'd like to say it was a great time, but I left a little sour. Probably more on me than anything, but I'm sorta sour anyway lol.

I dunno that sounds pretty annoying, but the line, tightening it up, and ID measures are probably to expedite it, and they're the norm in many popular breweries already. The thing that would bother me most is the lack of gratitude that's integral to good customer service and the rushed atmosphere of it all (as it seems). You're all there to have a beer, which should be relaxing.

Sorry you had a mediocre experience though. I'm sure once the first month jitters wear off it'll be better.
