Anyone know if any of the Costco locations in the Metro have Abrasive yet?

Picked up a four pack at Firehouse Liquor in Dundas just now. Canned 10/26. My first time having Abrasive. That's the problem with hype -- the beer never delivers. It's good, but I've had better DIPA.

Side note: Firehouse still had a ton of Castle Danger Mosaic for those who want to take a drive.

Picked up some 10/19 at TWMG. Love it. I like the touch of dank, it's nice. Still one of my favorites.

I can't think of a better DIPA available in the Midwest. Hopslam? Even pricier, and impossible to get for more than two weeks when it's released. King Sue even moreso.

BTW, is Abrasive $17.99/4 in MN?

Costco Burnsville has piles of it, 10/19 can date, and think it was $12.99.

Not to be that guy, but this year it's different than years past. Last year when you cracked the can open it would punch you in the face with citrusy hop aroma, now I have to cram my face into the glass to pick up any smell. It's also got a very noticeable alcohol presence that wasn't there before. The last few years it was always 5/5 for me, this version doesn't come close.

    Yeah, mine was different too...

This years is actually carbonated and had head retention.

Sadly, I agree with you. Might buy another 4-pack from a future batch. Otherwise, it's an easy pass at the $20.02 out-the-door price point.

Recently, it seems there is often a choice with Abrasive & Todd between great aroma or great head retention/carbonation. Seriously, the lack of consistency from them is alarming. I return to my standpoint of supporting the smaller MN brewers, who have better pricing, freshness and consistency.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, but I am curious which small MN brewers you see being more consistent? I need to get more beers into my regular line up that are consistently good!

I have never noticed any inconsistencies with Indeed or Bent Paddle. Uh, maybe that's it. I am now thinking of times I have noticed things with other brewers.

I wonder if it's the 10/26 canning that is off. I haven't tried it myself, but this 10/19 I'm drinking is incredible. Maybe even better than last years.

Drinking a 10/26 now - it is tasty enough but leans more towards a piney / dank style this year. Don't get any citrus or tropical aroma or flavors. At $16 not sure I will be getting more.

Having a 10/26 as well. Lacks the full frontal citrus nose I'm used to but it is carb'd very nicely and tastes great. Maybe getting a little more of the bitter warrior hops than I remember in past versions but this is a really good beer.
