I am heading to Minneapolis and want to stop there but do they sell their beer at their facility, in either growlers, cans, or bottles? I'd be interested in finding some of their harder to find brews as I can get most of their stuff in IL.
No, Surly can only sell beer on tap for onsite consumption. If you want it to go, you will need to go to a liquor store. Currently with a little bit of foot work you should be able to find Pentagram, Smoke, 1349, Eight and possibly SeVIIn. Rumor is Todd the Axeman is supposed to hit stores this week.
I'd be most interested in finding Pentagram and Darkness. I see they have Darkness on tap, not sure if it's for sale outside of that. Really would like to find Pentagram though. Will Todd be gone pretty quickly, I would be heading out there next week.
To get Darkness in a bottle, you would have to look at setting up a trade. Guessing first wave will go pretty quick kind of like Abrasive. I think there is a chance, but who really knows. I think setting up a trade would be the only sure bet to get some with out having to do a lot of calling or running around.
It is about an annual release, but tends to sit around on shelves now. I have seen it at plenty of places around the Twin Cities from the South East metro to the North West. It shouldn't be hard to find.
If you are looking for a bottle of Darkness, I'm sure you could get an IP trade set up fairly easily. I'd recommend posting in the ISO:FT (in person) forum.
I am not 100% sure if I am going yet, my parents are definitely going, and I don't want them doing my dirty work. I will post in there if I for sure am going. At the very least if I can't go I will have them pick my up some Surly swag at the brewery and have them try and grab me some pentagram.
only place relatively close to get a growler is the Nova in Wisconsin. they only have Furious though.
