This is great news! Any idea what the price will be? I was in MN today and brought back a 4 pack of abrasive that cost $19.99. I love the beer, hopefully it's in my budget.

It's only fair as long as FFF distributes to MSP. Right?

Well since they're skipping most of greater MN it should be obvious. Money. Chicago is a better market.

I can't wait to finally get my taste buds some Furious.
I can't remember this much excitement since Stone came to town. Now I never - and I mean never - buy Stone.
Ballast Point met the same fate with me. Only available on family vaca to San Diego? Count me in. $16 for a sixer of Sculpin cans a mile from my office? Pass on a weekly basis.
    Jaded have I become.

    This.

I agree. If I lived in a smaller market I'd feel the same way. But Chicago has a booming craft market and their beer will sell out the day it hits shelves.

I thought they had expanded distro a lot in MN? I'm guessing they don't get everything in the north though? Where else? I should probably ask in Midwest I suppose...

First, they were sending draft to Chicago when they were still quite small. Second, population density. Cook County alone has 5.2 million people. The entire state of Wisconsin has 5.7 million.

Also this. Chicago has an unquenchable thirst for craft beer at the moment. Multiple breweries operating at premium price points have pulled out of Wisconsin due to lackluster sales.

There's no way I'll be able to find surly on shelves in Chicago. Though it is awesome it will be a possibility.

Do you know if it will be full distro to the burbs as well right away?

Good article. Beginning Nov. 18, Surly will be available at "a limited amount of bar and retail accounts, which are currently being determined," Where? Those accounts will be listed on the brewery's website in the coming weeks.

"To start, Surly Furious (a bold India pale ale) will be available on draft, while a host of Surly beers including Furious, Overrated! (an even bigger IPA than Furious), Bender (a well-hopped brown ale), Coffee Bender, Hell (a lager) and Cynic (a saison) will be available in 16-ounce cans. Many of those beers will eventually be available here on draft, too."

Darkness is still a don't know when if ever in Chicago option. I've never tasted a Surly product but am aware of the legendary Furious status; looking forward to a taste!

One other note: Surly Founder Omar Ansari will be in Chicago for the re-release of Surly. Check the brewery's Facebook page for details.

with this addition (and this is clearly one of those mindless beer talk thread discussions) but Illinois has to be like in the top 5 of beer (distribution) states now.
