    Yup, it's true. So I suggest everyone else boycott Darkness day. So I don't have to get there so early to get a good spot. Err I mean, so we can resist this obvious oppression.

    The only way this would be true is if it gets expanded into neighboring properties and guest taps are introduced. However, I seriously doubt this would happen (MN law?) so I'd bet it will be free again.

    Honestly, since it's all done in their parking lot, and beer is for sale, there isn't much for them to pay for with a $45 admission fee.

    Can we just not do posts like this? The last thing anyone needs are completely unsubstantiated, hearsay rumors about events like this. It just perpetuates the telephone game that is so prevalent in the local beer community.

    If you have some kind of proof, like a link to a tweet, website post, or whatever, then fine, but stop posting rumors like this.

    I think the OP was fine. The OP stated it was a rumor and just wanted to know if anyone else had heard the same or if anyone knew the event would still be free.

    Then add the source of the rumor so we can establish how credible the rumor is.

    There is a big difference between a rumor from a Surly employee and one from a guy buying Surly at your local store.

    Right, and a rumor like this has an impact on people's plans, Surly's reputation, all that. A rumor like "I talked to Todd at ABR and he said they might bring back Four" is no big deal, but a rumor about a $45 ticket fee to get into Darkness Day could really muck up the event for the hosts and the attendees.

    I heard today from a guy at work that on Darkness Day they are offering lottery tickets for a shot at "Growlers of Goodies!" He said he also heard some of the growlers are of Darkness Bourbon Barrel Aged With Vanilla Beans, FU BRETT FAVRE and Imperial Brown Eye.
