Looking to get my hands on a bottle, but wanted to get some feedback on what would be a good trade offer. Not looking for a particular vintage, but just want to try the beer. How limited is this beer? I live in TX and am generally unfamiliar with Surly's offerings. I saw on a recent post some guy ended up with 37 bottles of Darkness so I'm thinking it can't be THAT limited. Thanks in advance.

it is pretty limited, that guy probably followed the truck, darkness day you could buy six bottles, most stores have a single bottle limit, maybe two bottles if you are lucky.

Darkness is pretty much the most sought after beer from Surly with Abrasive and Anniversary beers following after. Like the craft beer scene in general, it's getting harder to get limited releases like Darkness. A good amount of places are selling out within an hour or so once they recieve their allotment.

If you are unfamiliar with Surly offerings for the most part, you should try their staples like Furious and Bender if you haven't, which are year round and much easier to trade for.

From Texas - Some of the Jester King or Freetail limited releases would probably do it. Live Oak Hefe growler probably as well.

I've traded for it twice now - I think it's one of the easier limited release stouts to trade for as the bottle count is pretty high, allocation is high, and there are lots of vintages at this point. But, you still do need to give up something interesting.
