Does anybody outside of MN need to get excited?? Not trying to be snarky, was just hoping for some love further afield...

This is crazy! Kind of bitter sweet though, Surly never really had their shit together and it was always funny. They also loved the shop I worked because of the address: 666 Grand Ave. Bring that shit to Chicago J. Bros!

Explain what's funny and what 'shit' Surly never had together?

My boss would always complain about dealing with them sometimes pleasant to deal with over the phone other times not at all. Also, several times there was talk of someone coming into the shop to do some sampling but I literally never saw anyone from the brewery except the delivery drivers. It didn't really matter it was just funny. Sorry if my sense of humor isn't up to your standards...

I hope with the expansion they can get their beer fresh to outstate markets..ie northern MN north of Brainerd...

Prices will go up now I would expect since there is a middle man involved now.

I would imagine they adjust their margins to keep the same retail. I hope anyways because my wallet can't take much more of a hit from Surly

That was my first thought too. Pretty sure Furious at $12/4 pack would lose some marginal fans & the beer would start sitting longer, losing some more fans. I'd be shocked if their prices didn't go up on everything, but I'd be delighted to be wrong.

The problem is that production levels, for the time being, aren't going to match up with distribution. That means less Surly for the all of us, especially outside of the Cities. Time to start hoarding?

Well, Surly has been using a distributer for years to supply the NW burbs, and prices for their day to day stuff is more or less on par with the rest of the metro. Their big bottles tend run a few bucks higher due to distribution.

According to a couple "new surly sales reps" i have talked to, distribution wont be expanding any more than if surly was still doing it themselves.
