I was watching the KARE11 Land of 10,000 Stories special the other night and one of the segments was about Surly, Omar, and his dad Nick back in 2009. In the segment, Omar mentioned that they sold the first Surly keg to Café 28 in February of 2006. For those of you that know your Twin Cities establishments, that was owned and ran by Linda Haug. That's Linda Haug as in Mrs. Todd the Axe Man. I'm guessing I know the answer here but can anyone confirm that Todd was with Linda and involved with Café 28 back then and that's why the first keg sale went there?
Yes, and that used to be the place to go for Darkness on tap. Linda is now in charge of the restaurant side of the Surly destination brewery.
Thanks for confirming what I suspected. I knew Linda was running the food show at the new brewery but I still miss Café 28. It was always good for a meal and even better for finding some Surly tap gems that couldn't be found just about anywhere else.
