Just picked up Todd at TW in Goodyear. Anybody have details on this being a one off, or are they distributing here now? I haven't heard any news.
Its an exclusive deal with Surly. They did the same thing in Florida last year with San Tan. Early last year they brought another beer, Flying Dog, here. Usually only the one allotment according to the Tempe Store Manager.
Figured it was a one time shot, and curbed my expectations accordingly. Will definitely enjoy what I picked up. Thanks for the info.
Just went in to exchange some singles my wife overpaid for for a four-pack of Modern Times Booming Rollers, and I saw some Surly on the shelf. Never had their beer, but I know they're well regarded, so I picked up a four pack each of Todd and Furious. I skipped on the Xtra Citra, but I'm kind of regretting it now, at $7/4 pints. Pretty cool thing Total Wine is doing.
todd and furious are the two to snag. coffee bender xtra citra are solid too. seems like some stores got a ton. tw in tempe marketplace still has large stacks. fwiw, if you get hooked and want them after this allotment has disappeared, france44 and south lyndale liquors, will ship from MN.
I picked mine up at the Total Wine in South Tempe, near IKEA. They still had stacks of it there as well. Opened up a Furious last night. Good beer. Malty and sweet for an IPA, but that's par for the course in the Midwest. Reminded me of Alpha King, although its been a while since I had one. That's good to know about those stores shipping. I'll have to look into it sometime.
Damn, I was hoping that they were actually here to stay! I grabbed some a couple weeks ago and was glad to get a taste of the midwest again. It was surprisingly fresh too!
