I saw a FB post from Vendome in Pasadena that they had Abrasive for a tasting recently. After asking if Surly was getting distro out here, they replied yes. I was wondering if anyone else heard anything about Surly out here in Cali?
I have seen Vendome in Yorba Linda post out of market beers before. A few months back they posted a few bottles of Zombie dust with a cryptic message about calling them if you were interested in trying some. I am pretty sure Surly is not coming to California any time soon. At least legally. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?...89964997.74407.146395728723634&type=1&theater
I had Furious at Urge in San Diego a couple months ago, but I think that was a keg they picked up on a road trip.
They can't even keep up with Minnesota demand, they just (last 2-3 weeks) rolled back into Chicago. They signed on with distributors to finally start supplying Wisconsin, thankfully. Once the new brewery is done, probably this time next year would be my guess, then they might start expanding their distribution footprint.
I've ordered Surly brews through France44.com on several occasions. Abrasive is actually available right now at $15.99/4-pack. They also have some Bell's and Founders stuff available. I've never had any issues with the shipments, and the beers have always been relatively fresh. None of the hoppy stuff I've received has ever been more than 3 weeks old.
i was in the Pasadena store a few weeks back and 2 cans were sitting in the cooler - I asked the lady how much they were and was told 8.99 per can. When i asked how she got them, she gave a polite smile and shrug. (so that explains that) They were fresh cans too ... if someone wants to pay 9 bucks for a can of Abrasive.. good for them
My last purchase came out to $6/ can. Still expensive, but between materials/extras/shipping, it's no more expensive than trading. Anyway, it's just another option for someone looking to acquire some Surly.
urge has some surly on right now! not sure why, but will not complain! because they are not getting distro out here
I occasionally see it in the fridge section at Ramirez. Which seems a little moot considering how out of date those cans end up being.
Yup, I also ordered from France44 before without issue. Abrasive is a great beer. Up there with all the other lauded DIPAs.
