Just got an Untappd notification that two Surly beers dropped at Kahn's in Indy. Is Surly expanding to Indiana as well or is this a single drop?
I liked 18 a lot, which is why I grabbed a 19. I should have grabbed the 18 sitting next to the 19's at Binny's. The 19 was just a tart, bitter, gigantic mess of a beer.
So Surly is now distributing in Indiana? I guess it was about the only state they had not covered in the Midwest. They did Arizona before Indiana. About f’n time.
I guess? I'd love if this could be verified but 1. Didn't see any announcements on teh webz about it and 2. With all of these one off drops (ala Other Half in Chicago) I'm not sure if this is a drop or new distro.
Saw this article in the Indy Star today and thought of this thread. Surly is in Indy, but only for a limited time thanks to this man's distribution company. Interesting idea. https://www.indystar.com/story/ente...st-time-flavors-indy-short-stints/4290166002/ This reminds me of something similar to what Brewdog and some other forward-thinking beer bars do in Europe. They contract with an American businessman who works with small American craft breweries to bring limited distribution American craft beer to Europe. One of the former partners of Black Acre told me about how they had beer on tap in Britain and Denmark I believe (back when maybe they only distributed within Indiana). Sure enough, I've had Black Acre on draft in London and Upland on draft in Scotland. Sadly you can often find a wider variety of hard-to-find American craft breweries in London than you can in Indy. Anyway, hopefully we see some interesting beers coming to town through this company.
Mystery solved! Good looking out! I had emailed Kahn's and gotten no response. When I called in the person working the desk didn't have answer either way. Here's hoping we get more good breweries through here. *cough* Trillium, Treehouse, Other Half *cough*
