My son is returning from Minnesota this weekend. Are there any Surly IPAs besides Furious and Todd the Axeman which are readily available in beer stores for him to bring home?

    Abrasive just dropped too.

If he has more room, I would highly recommend him also bring back Lupulin Blissful Ignorance and Hooey (look for Hooey canned on 10/26) and also Drekker Ectogasm for some tasty treats.

I just had an Overrated last night for the first time in a long time, and it was quite nice at $7.99 a four pack.

Ectogasm sell out really fast so if you can't find any Wheez The Juice from Drekker is just as good IMO and usually more readily available.

Tell him to forget Surly and get Lupulin Hooey or Blissful Ignorance or any Disgruntled IPA. Surly has been surpassed, by other, better IPA's.

    You've named the two classics.

Abrasive is a must. If he can find Wet, which was released a couple weeks ago, that's another fine option. Overrated is an excellent IPA, especially for the reasonable price.

I strongly disagree, but, yes, if you're on the New England IPA bandwagon, Surly's IPAs probably will be too intense, dry, and bitter and not juicy-sweet or accessible enough for you.

Thanks everyone. Got delivery of Furious, Todd the Axeman, Wet, and Overrated. He could not find any Abrasive or other suggestions, but probably only tried beer store by him in Blaine. Very happy with all the Surly beers, loved visiting the brewery when we visited.

To many Surly has become passe. For example, the 21 year old drinker wants to discover his cool brewery like the 31 year old drinker did 12 years ago when Surly opened up. For me Sierra Nevada will always be the best brewery on the planet, it's the brewery I discovered 28 years ago when it was virtually impossible to find a quality beer.
