So I've got a buddy making a visit home to the Twin Cities and I've been able to talk him into bringing me back some Surly. My friend although a person who enjoys beer, I wouldn't call him anything like a BA guy; case and point, he hadn't heard of Surly Brewing. So I don't want to make this guy run all over the place looking for beers for me. Therefore, may I have some help with some Surly recommendations that are readily available? For example, is Wet off the shelf right now? Furious is year round, correct? Assuming SyX being limited is gone. Thanks!!!
Yeah, Wet is on the shelf in some places, but it depends on where he'll be. Furious is year-round, Syx is probably all gone (although there are reports of a few bottles here and there). It may be easier to point him in a good direction if we know where your buddy will be visiting/staying... Can't go wrong with some of the other locals either.
Random sampling of one from a tourist but I went into Four Firkins and felt I had died and gone to heaven. Tremendous selection. Locals might have better ideas but I sure was happy.
I'd pick-up some SurlyFest and if you look there is still some Bitter Brewer around. Both top three Surly Seasonals in my mind.
I absolutely love Furious, and at 10 bucks for 4 pk 16oz can it's a bargain vs quality IMO. From what I understand Wet is being released right now probably right at 17-18 bucks a 4 PK cans. Easily case Worthy IMO.
I would say of the year round stuff that is easy to find, have him pick you up some Furious and Coffee Bender and you will be a happy man. Those are my top two, easily. Regular Bender is up there as well. He shouldn't have any problem finding any of those. I'm not much of a fan of Cynic. Hell is good, though nothing special IMO. If he can find it, get some SurlyFest for sure. Had it for the first time last weekend and it is DELICIOUS.
No Wet, but my buddy hooked it up getting me 4-packs of: Bender, CynicAle, Furious, and SurlyFest. Can't wait to try them!!! Thanks for the help guys.
