Just thought that the high ABV may make it a little hot. No?

Oh, it's hot! Just some of the bright hops may fade with time. I think it'll be great down the road, but it's fun to try it young and with age to see how it changes.

Again, was just curious...to each their own. Cheers!

It's 15% ABV, heat is expected (and desired) at that kind of octane.

I had the same thought initially when I read that but maybe he meant they just bought the last few bottles? (I hope...)

Yeah, bad language. I got two, one for me and one for a trading partner. The guy who walked in before me got three.

1 bottle limit at Blue Max - bummer. Tough to track down in the south metro - would love to get another bottle or two for the cellar...

Nope, there were a bunch of smaller stores I talked to that hadn't gotten any yet. Just speculating, but it seems like the big players were served early this time rather than everyone getting it on their normal schedule.

I saw/heard that many of the 'bigger' players were surprised they got their allotment as soon as they did. I think you're onto something. (Or on something) RIMSHOT!

I was almost on Syx, I'd have sabered one open tonight except I didn't have the foresight to stick on in the fridge.

On it right now myself. Sharing it with pops, who grabbed a pint glass...felt good to be on the other side of the scolding for once.

Awesome, I checked with Cap N Cork this morning and they were still trying to get a hold of Schott Distributing to get some info about the beer.

Wow. This gets crazier every year. Seems that in years past this sort of fervor was only happening with Darkness. The anniversary brews could be found easily, even weeks after they were released. Now you have many of the big bottle shops selling out within a few days. (or hours at FF)

It's come a long, long ways since standing in line with the 40 or so other people on that cold winter day in January 2007 waiting to get inside on the first ever Darkness Day. The first bottling run of Darkness was (IIRC) 300 bottles. Total. I remember the Surly crew telling people to call friends because the first round of people all got in and their were still bottles available.

2009 I showed up for Darkness Day at 8am and was a few hundred back. 2011 I showed up at 7am and BARELY got a wristband save for Omar handing out a handful of extras at the last minute. I would venture to guess you will have to camp overnight this year to guarantee a wristband. Still fun? Yeah. Getting a bit ridiculous? Absolutely.

Edit: Didn't realize there was a thread about Darkness Day until after I posted that. The point remains though that even the anniversary beers are approaching anticipation levels previously reserved for Darkness.
