MGM MG is selling these at $29.99. Ouch. Happy to have gotten one but that's a tad on the high side.

i would have told them to f-off, then taken one of the bottles, and smash it on the sales floor.

Agreed...I think someone from that gentleman's establishment watches BA. I know I've been reported for comments about said person.

pshh, whatever. it has to be said, i cant stand price gouging regardless of the supply/demand situation. I retrospect, I look at purchasing top end beers like wine. Hell, SYX is the same size and around the same ABV as a bottle of wine, and Surly has already done some aging for us. =) I think it's going to be a stellar brew in a few years when it cools off a bit.

I had to say it. I think they check the site with the intent of obtaining the names of the "half dozen".

I am not defending the guy one bit, but some MGM's were gouging on Darkness at least a year before Surdyk's and they never received the comments that Surdyk's has. Just pointing that out. Is it because they were/are considered to be a caterer to the craft scene and a high profile store?

And those MGM's were called out. The difference, as I see it, is the way Surdyk's handled the situation. They didn't just defend their pricing, they attacked and marginalized those who questioned the pricing. Also Sudyk's is direct distributed from Surly, while most/all the MGM's get it through a distributor... for what it's worth.

I think your reasons are part of why they didn't get the initial posts. I cannot speak to the motivations of others, but the posts that I have made since then are spurred by the arrogant and insulting comments directed at members of this community.

I know there were some comments about MGM's prices, just not as many as Surdyk's and now I've been reminded why. I keep forgetting about their response to the criticism, which was ridiculous.

I would like to redact this statement. My buddy went to an MGM and complained about the price. They responded, and showed him their "Buy" price sheet, and Syx cost them nearly 23 dollars a bottle. Whoever sold it to them is the one we should gather around with pitchforks. So whats the deal? Distro? Surly? MGM? Who wants to speak up and clear their name?
