I told them to sell it to somebody else! I will skip it this year, if this is what its coming to! If I have time tomorrow I may try and make a trip to WBL.

Western Burbs (outside of 494) seem to have gotten it within the last 24hrs. All at $24.99+!! Had one tell me, " at least it's cheaper than Surdyk's"

Can one of the good little BAs' create a list of all the stores I'm not supposed to shop at. Too many shops "overcharging", I can't keep track of them all.

It was so much easier when we all just shitted on Surdyks last year.

I thought Surdyks was "cut off" by Omar after their last overcharging scam? Evidently I'm wrong.

I paid $23.99 at the Mound muni and I thought that was high. I'm somewhat injured right now and didn't feel like hunting down better prices so I just paid it. Looks like $23.99 isn't as bad as many places. What is the "right" price that people have been able to buy it? (No economics 101 lessons needed, "what the customer is willing to pay blah blah blah. Just wondering what some of the lower prices are that BA have paid.

I think I paid ~$18.99 at Zipps. My girlfriend paid $17.99 at South Lyndale.

Depends on where the store got it from. Direct from Surly, looks like 18-19 bucks should be the price. Through a distributor, looks like they had to buy it at 20-23 so a few dollars above that doesn't seem to unreasonable.

I think it's a little silly that Surly would send it out to distributors to be sold at 5-12 dollars more when it could have been sent to direct distro stores and all sold easily at 18-20 per bottles.

Seems like screwing the customer to curry favors from the distributor.

But that's just what it seems like.

You must live in the city.

I get what you mean, if they sold it all directly to stores then the folks an hour away would never see any.

But you also need to understand what it feel like to live 2 miles from the brewery and if I go to my local store they got half a case and have to charge 25 bucks to just break even. That's a disservice to the store because they unknowingly look like asshats and a disservice to the customer because they are charged more. The only winner is the distributor and Surly.

If anybody has a spare or access to more, and wants to work something out, I'm sure I can make it worth your while. Shoot me a bm and let me know what you might be looking for.

Surly's business interests go beyond selling specialty beers to BA's in the city. They have to service all of their customers (consumers, retail stores, and distributors) with some sort of equality. All of their customers want the specialty beers too along with the year-round line up. I'm sure that to some degree these specialty beers are a PITA for everyone involved, but they're the beers that keep the spotlight on Surly, which helps sell more of the year-round beers.

As an aside, what really chaps my keester is people selling bottles of specialty beers on eBay and Craigs List while the beers are still being sold at retail. People currently selling Syx on eBay now is nothing more than profiteering. One guy has 2 auctions going on eBay, one of 6 bottles for $240 BIN, and another of 4 bottles for $160 BIN. My guess is that he works for a retailer and somehow got a case, kept two for himself, and is profiteering on the rest. I honestly don't have a problem with people selling long gone beers, or flights of annual releases, but this rubs me the wrong way.

What if Surly had 2 annual beer releases at the brewery? One for Darkness Days and a anniversary release?
    Crazy idea?
