So far the only thing I don't like about Syx is how full it makes my inbox...

You guys paying 25 bones a bottle need to go in there and complain. They were running 17-19 bucks in the stores that first got them.

More and more these stores at jacking up costs.

If they have no consequences it will continue

From what I understand, that $6 price gap comes from the distributor. The stores that first got them (again, from what I understand) receive directly from Surly.

somewhere in the distribution line someone bumped the cost up for some of the stores.

Everywhere in the distribution line there is a price increase.

Surly is in business to make money, they sell their beer to pay for costs and make profit. Distributors are also in business to make money, so they also price their products to cover costs and gain profit.

North Metro cost was around $18 a bottle. With different margins/markups for these premium beers you can expect them to sell for $22.50-$27.

Anywhere Surly doesn't self distribute got a much higher cost of goods.

So glad I don't work there anymore. That would've been embarrassing for me.

What would you have the stores that buy their Surly from a distributer do, sell it at a loss?

None out today in Roch, I'm being told possibly tomorrow, but more likely Thursday. Per what I'm told Schott (the Surly distributor here in Roch) usually delivers to the liquor stores those days.

You can still find it around the suburbs and most got them over a week ago. I picked up one and went back a week later and there was still some left

Billy from Princetons only charged 21.99. He has the same distributor and sales rep that MGM MG does because that is part of that guy's sales route. I could be wrong, but I assume he paid the same price MGM did. He wasn't able to sell it at the low cost of 17.99, but it is much less than MGM. When I worked at MGM, they told me they wanted to make it one of the best craft beer stores in the area. They still have a lot to learn if they want our support as customers.

I beleive Surly still self distirbutes. It is the liqour stores charging what they want and some people paying for it.

    You would be wrong then.

Surly does some self distribution, they also distribute through a distributor.

Very well could be, they have been doing a lot of changes lately witht he new brewery opening.
But that doesnt change stores raising the price drastically
