Paid $17.50 +tx at Blue Max today. Is my memory totally shot or do I remember it going for $13.99 - $14.99 last year? I won't be buying much more at that price.

All the Surly bombers in La Crescent sell for $25, that is to much for mediocre beer.

That is pretty high from what I remember.

That's the same as last year in Mankato. Too much but I still pay it.

I think it is still on the shelf at AV3 from last year, thought it was around 12-14

Holy sheet. Did they fill Smoke bottles with Darkness?

It has the Surly name, thus the price tag. I don't think it's a very good beer, personally, but to each their own.

Saw it at $16.99 yesterday. At that price it's going to be on the shelf a looooooong time.

Jeez, I still see 2012 around quite a bit.

I think it was like $14 at Zipps when I was there yesterday. $17 is too much - there's an awful lot in the market.

I picked one up at liquor barrell, cant remember what i paid for it yesterday lol. Ill cellar it for a while so the smokeyness wears down. i had a 2012 not that long ago and it was pretty good.

I passed on it at $16.99 yesterday. I really like Smoke but at this price I won't be drinking it much. The 2012 Smoke was less smoky than 2011 Smoke and very good.

Maybe I'm mistaken, or where I bought it the prices were jacked up, but I could swear last year Smoke was going for $15/16, and maybe even $16.99.

Either way, I'll buy a few bottles to have with some slow smoked ribs over the summer, but it's definitely not something I'd cry over if I missed out on it.

Definitely a good beer to cellar. Almost undrinkable fresh.

Do you have experience with this? If so, it's good to hear. Baltic porter is one of my favorite styles but drinking this fresh on-tap was like sucking on a burnt log.

I immediately put my 2012 into my cellar. I cracked it a couple weeks ago, i still have one left down there. It was not nearly as smoky as previous years, and from my tasting notes, it was mellower. That being said, my pallate has been on a rollercoaster the last 12 months.

I agree, I had one in the cellar I forgot about, was at least a year old and was sublime. Fresh it is like licking a BBQ.

I must be the minority here, I loved 2011 fresh and was disappointed that the 2012 was so tame.

Something like 15 hours has passed, and nobody's piled on this guy? Is Surly Nation getting soft?

Yeesh, last year's batch sat on shelves for months at that price it'll be super easy to find. I don't like this beer without 2 years on it, unfortunately I just opened a 1 and 2 year old bottle. Both with rusty caps, flat and oxidized as crap. So drain poured and no more smoke for me as I've never liked it fresh.
