Is there any release schedule for the anniversary beers? I'm visiting MN this weekend and stopping by Surly Friday. I see Three on the menu now but would love to try Four.

No real schedule. There is a chance four will be one this Friday, but I would say it is not a very good chance. I think the only one they posted some details about a bit in advance has been three.

Thanks for the info! Won't get my hopes up then. Either way I'm pretty excited about it, heard great things about the food there and Todd on draft should be a nice treat.

There hasn't been any hype around Pentagram since the first release, so no.

And it's very good, especially in our sour-starved market, but not good enough to purchase regularly at $15/bottle or whatever it goes for. Which is obvious, since you can find it turding up shelves of smaller shops year-round.

Not to thread jack this thing too much, but I was quite happy to see Almanac at Casanova's last week. I've really enjoyed every sour I've had from them.

It might be good enough to buy regularly at 15 a bottle, but the last time around I saw it for 21-24. Does anyone know what the price point is this year?

I'd buy a bottle now and again if it were $15. The range I see is between $18 on special to $30 (are you fucking kidding?).

Their anniversary is in early January, but the beers have come out at different times of year over the past five years or so. Most have seemed to come out between late summer and early fall, but who knows when the next one will hit the shelves.

$15? Never seen it for less than $22. Even at $15 I'd pass.

Thing is, we can regularly get Pentagram at $5/6 a glass on tap in Des Moines. So for their specialty beers I find to be expensive in bottles I just enjoy on draft. Aside from BA Darkness most of their specialty kegs are in half barrels which allows them to price out better.

I've seen it on clearance for like $12 before. Cleared out the shelf at that price.

My philosophy has always been to drink Surly specialty beers on tap as much as possible as it is a better price per ounce. It used to be that way for Darkness too, but I've seen bar pours of it increase in price over the past couple years to the point were it'is the same as buying a bottle.

The Growler article says you can get drink it at the old BC brewery on 6/24... they're still allowed to serve beer there?

I believe this is a special party similar to Surlyfest or D-Day.
