Based on the prices I've paid for pints of Todd vs what I've paid for 10 oz pours of Abrasive I'm holding out hope it will be priced less, but I'll probably buy plenty of them regardless. Todd is just too good to pass up, I will say it falls off much faster than Abrasive does though.

Yep! And we are in the times of $75 for 1oz of world class bourbon. That's ridiculous and makes $0.25 for 1oz of world class beer come into perspective nice and clear. A bargain, really! And I don't care if that bourbon sat in barrels for 23 years, still outrageous priced, just because of its rares status.

Buy 1 oz for $50 and get the second at half price. It would be irresponsible to not get that second ounce, really.

Interesting that Todd the Axeman costs more than Abrasive to produce. While I'm excited that they are finally canning this after having it out for what has seemed like a long time, I don't know how much I'll buy if it's priced like Abrasive. Ecstatic they are canning this though!

I will probably buy more as I find it much more drinkable....Love Abrasive but one or two 16's and I'm good....I could see easily drinking a four pack of Axeman at a camp fire or something where I couldn't with Abrasive or Hopslam for that matter..

It uses Golden Promise malt which is very expensive since it's labor intensive and two of the most in demand hops in the world.

Now that I think about it I believe Jason said somewhere maybe in this thread that he talked to Todd who told him it would be cheaper than Abrasive even though it cost more to make.

Out of curiosity, what does an ounce of a 23-year old Scotch run at the same place?

Considering it's a single malt beer I don't see how that's possible. Definitely not under attenuated.

I don't want to derail this thread any more than it has been, but I took that picture. It is from the Belfry in Kansas City, about a block south of power and light. Decent tap list too. I don't remember seeing any scotch on their list...it isn't much longer than what is in that picture as it is a very small place.

We didn't go for the bargain of the second ounce, we actually tried 20 and 23 side by side. Fortunately it was on an expense account!!! Both were incredible and reminded me exactly of abrasive and sr-71. We drank them neat, but once we finished them I poured water in the glass, swirled it around and drank that too (hydration)...just to make sure we didn't miss any.

Can't wait for cans of Todd. The pours I got at the brewery when I visited were so much better than the ones I've had at El Bait Shop...both were absolutely great though.

Sorry...it was the 20 and 23 year pappy van winkle in the picture above. Also, abrasive should have read assassin.
