What does a 4 pack of a beer like Heady The Topper retail for? Are we getting jobbed over here in MN?

I do want to say I am excited for this beer and will get my usual single 4 pack, just like my usual single 4 pack of abrasive. I live too close to the Surly Brewery to constitute buying more.

Heady is $15-16 for a 4pk of pint cans at retail.

Todd uses only golden promise. Furious uses maybe 1/3 or a 1/4 golden promise in the malt bill

Well, at least I know we are not the only ones being jobbed. Kidding. I would actually think it would be cool to see a cost per can type of graph. I know it would be pretty easy if they were just factoring in grain, water, yeast, and hop, but it gets complicated once you want to figure out man hours, distro cut, utilities, and etc. I mean does Todd the Axe Man and Abrasive really cost nearly twice as much as Furious to produce and ship?

Also. Axe Man is dry-hopped twice.

There are a whole lot of beers out there that have a price tag worth complaining about. This is not one of them, that's for sure.

Finally, a world class citra/mosaic ipa that is better than pseudo and zombie dust in my opinion that i don't have to bust my balls trying to get. that is not to say that axe man won't be going off the shelves quickly like every other new beer release, but surly has the smarts and capacity to fulfill unlike others.

I think you will be busying your balls to find this. Hope there are at least two cannings of this.

If it's truly a seasonal we should see at least a couple months worth of cannings, right? What were there, 3 or 4 canning dates of Abrasive? At any rate, we should stock up. Don't want to take any chances.

I think there were 4 cannings of Abrasive spanning about 5 weeks. Extrapolate that to Axe Man and that should give everyone a shot at finding some. I'm sure the first run or two will go fast but if they (Surly) have the wherewithal to have it on tap at the beer hall for months on end, I'm sure they can pump out some big batches.

I'm fine with paying a premium for quality beers like this. Citra hops have recently increased in price due to demand. Hopefully Surly keeps the same recipe. When Surly is on they are one of the top breweries in the country. We are lucky to have Todd one the most talented brewmasters here in MN.
