I picked up a 4 pack because of this thread. Mine was canned on 2-15-16, and it is very well carbonated. The head seemed to last a while also.

    Ok, back to drinking.

Seem like not much mention of the fact that we still get "fresh" Todd dated 2/17, miles from the brewery. I get it goes to St Paul, then the distributor. I think I've seen fresher Pseudo Sue out of a can than 2 weeks.

I'm just saying... I've traded for Carton that is mailed to me and still only 7 days old. When will we ever get to that level of freshness.

See, now I'm complaining about it... I love this beer.

Yeah cool. I can see it now in November in the TC Bottle Hunt forum: "Axeman at ..., August 14th canning date!"

Seriously, are we going to have eight months of canning, or eight months of distro with a few canning runs?

Yeah. I guess there goes that theory. I tried…. Call me a fanboy but this beer rules and can almost do no wrong. It crushes beers like Scratchtown Wonder Twins that people in Nebraska go bonkers over. I'm just happy to be able to get cans of Todd the Axeman across the border in Iowa.

Their dry hops might be completely different as well, all of those beers arent brewed the same way. Nugget and Mosaic promise are a little more balanced/malty too some. Axe man is very hop forward.

Any idea if this is ever sold by France 44?

If it is like past releases, it will, there will be no shortage of it. Just need to give it some time.

Just bought a 6 pack at TW Bloomington. Canned 2/1, right next to TG Pseudo Sue 2/11 and fresh Todd 2/17.
Don't the TG cans come from Florida? Do the Todd cans have to "condition" for 7-10 days??

Can anyone explain how it takes weeks to get cans out... I just want some day old beer from a brewery in town.

I think Indeed gets them out in the same week.

Distribution, or dare I say poor distribution. Not sure if Indeed still self distributes, but Surly most definitely does not.

Why is Todd $15-$16? Is it supply vs demand? Are the ingredients higher in value? I'd personally prefer 2x Furious, or Abrasive at $13.

Agree, Todd is amazing, but 6-7 Furious are almost as amazing for the same price.
I know Citra and Golden Promise do cost more than other ingredients.
Plus of course the 2 weeks to store it before shipping it out to the distributor costs money. :astonished:

    Todd>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Furious

I'm happy to pay a little more for better quality beer. Plus Furious sits in the cooler for months at a time making it much less fresh than slowly distributed Todd.

Wait a minute. I said Todd is amazing. Way better than furious. I was eluding to the fact that you can get 6-7 cans of Furious for the price of 4 Todd's.
50-60% is not a little more. That was my main point. Plus I see 2-3 week old Furiuos a lot. Todd came out 2 weeks old.

I agree, my point is that I think Todd is better than Furious, enough so that it is worth the extra charge. Furious is not that good IMO.

Surly seems to do this a lot with their limited releases. They'll brew 2-3 batches and have their distributors ship them all out at once to stores so that all the stores get them within the same week. Thats why there are 1 and 2 week old batches around. Thats what I think anyway...

It goes up and down daily like the stock market. Hard to say.
