4 pack of 2/16....very hopped up....I did Indeed Let it Ride first....fresh as shit...mosaic hop aroma bursting out of the can as it opened...then went with Todd....different that Let it Ride but loaded with hops....then finished with Bent Paddle Double IPA (Forest something or another...I could go look but too lazy)....Bent Paddle was the least hop laden of the three....good but I'd take the other two for sure first..

The carb issues with Todd aren't so bad because they don’t detract from the taste and feel of the brew. The carb issues with Abrasive ruined Abrasive.

Surly's been in their new money printing palace long enough that, maybe, they should start getting their shit together. Or maybe they don't care...

This carb issue has been going on for a while now. I wonder if Surly thinks there is an issue or if people are just assuming it is supposed to be different. Maybe that's how they want the beers to be?

I would attach the nice people at Surly to this post but not sure their usernames on BA. Anyone feel free to attach them to get their comments.

Why would they need to care when they have plenty of people continuing to buy their product?

I had a Todd the other night. I also had a fresh Furious. My final result: I actually liked the fresh Furious more than I did Todd. Don't get me wrong, it was still good. I just feel like it is WAY overpriced.

FYI: Todd was my FAVORITE MN beer last year. Kinda disappointed this year. If they were close to the same price, I may choose Todd again, but meh. Anyone else feel this way?

Had some 2/16 Todd last week. The head died off in a minute or so, but it tasted great. It was definitely a step below the King Sue we had around, but still very good.

Fresh Furious, is that a thing?

In Woodbury I can find <1 month old Furious anytime I want. I prefer Todd, but I definitely choose fresh Furious at $7.99 vs Todd at $15.99

I love fresh Furious, but it's not on the same level as Todd IMO.

So the first round of Todd was gone in a few days around Madison, WI. I assume there will be more in coming weeks?

I had this on tap. Maybe I need to re-taste this somewhere else. I didn't get anything but bitter. Hardly any aroma, no head...

Yeah, gotta say that my 2.5-week-old canned Todd is much, much better than the Todd I had on tap at the brewery in December. I've rarely had a beer with as much powerful aroma as this Todd. Like I could smell it from 3 feet away just from popping the top. That's unusual IME. I suspect fresh is key with this one as aromatics like these generally don't seem to hold up well with age.

Also I wouldn't call it super bitter, but it is a palate wrecker cause there's so much hop flavor. I made the mistake of drinking a PseudoSue after a Todd, and I might as well have been drinking water.

Wonder if they were serving it too cold or something, whenever i've had the beer, can or tap, it has a wicked good aroma.

Did the same. Don't drink Sue after Todd. The same would be true about most IPAs after King Sue as well.

I definitely preferred Todd out of the can last year but I was never confident that it wasn't attributable to situational variations in my own palate. But I think it holds true again this year - the aroma and the taste out of the can always seem to be at a different level - come to think of it I've always thought the same about Abraisve. I opened an old can of Todd from last year about 2 months ago and although the hops had definitely faded - the aroma still impressed me more than than the aroma that I have experienced from this beer on tap. Maybe someone with with more knowledge on the canning vs kegging aspects of brewing could chime in with some reasons that this may or may not be true.

What store charges $7.99 for Furious and $15.99 for Todd? Oh, wait.......

It will be canned regularly for the next 3+ months, so there should certainly be more in the coming weeks.

Can anyone confirm the grain bill on this one? I know the first canned batch was 100% golden promise but this one tastes different. I found it to be a lot sweeter and darker than the first batch. I've only had 3 of my 16 this run but they were not nearly as good as they were. Very disappointing.

I'm almost certain it is still Golden Promise. However, whether Surly added another malt variety I don't know.

It could still very well be all Golden Promise, but most likely it is a different batch from last run and I am pretty sure gains can very from season to season. They also could have switched brands. I was doing some reading on using golden promise in home brew and people were saying the two major companies that malt golden promise yield different beers.
