Alright, I have seen thread after thread about how to suspend dry hops or oak or spices or coffee or nibs or whatever inside a keg. Usual responses include tying it to the handle and running it under the gasket (harder to seal the lid in my experience) or using a gear clamp on the PRV housing on the underside of the lid.

Just saw these on sale at AIH: just thread it to the tab. Looks like MoreBeer has them too (just not on sale today). That is cool.

From my experience, getting the keg to seal is not a problem if using waxed, flat dental floss. The 2 times I've had problems (out of hundreds) was when I overfilled the keg and part of the bag got caught on the relief. Having said that, if I need to replace a lid I would buy one of those...good price from what I've seen...even for a regular lid.

I'd think that keg lube would help seal the deal.

    Eh? Eh?

I've used keg lube with the flat dental floss and still had bubbles. Finally I just took a hammer to the rim and made it conform to the contours of the lid. Works great now. I also did the gear clamp on the PRV housing and had a worse time than before as the extra strand of dental floss from the other side of the knot would shoot into the hole when I purged and stick the PRV in a partially open position. Haven't had any real issues in a while now as I have done my fair share of trouble shooting now, but this lid would have saved a lot of time and CO2.

Plumber Teflon tape will work on stubborn lid/keg combinations. It is thinner than dental floss.

AIH had some pretty good deals the last few days. I really wish I had pulled the trigger on the ferm wraps they had for $10.

I added them to my cart but got distracted by football yesterday and never completed the sale, I went back today and I was SOL........

Of course I immediately bought one. I'll give a report on my next project.
