I recently received 2 SBJ as extra's in a trade. I was excited to see them and promptly drank one. Within a few sips, it did not agree with me at all. I got a headache, and stomach ache about halfway through and drained poured the rest. Anyone else have this issue? I have a friend that has recently gotten some in a trade also who has no problems, but I am apprehensive about drinking the second bottle.

A beer being "infected" doesn't mean that it will get you sick. It just means that it has been produced with some unintended results, such as a sour taste or funky smell. This is usually caused by an infection of wild yeast, and is not harmful to us. Check out these threads:

Each of my friends that participated in an beer tasting with 1 infected beer reported the same symptoms after the event. The idea was to see who could spot the infected version of the same beer in the sample. I also have had this on one other occasion with an infected beer. So while you are not "sick" its not uncommon to feel ill.

its still not an infection. I mean the alcohol kills most strains of sickness.

Got a SBJ as an extra in a Philly IP trade (thanks matishopbrew) and it was delicious. I think maybe you just didn't agree with the artificial flavoring in a bad way. That would be my guess.

No I don't. The intention of the thread was to see if anyone else had experienced the same issues after drinking SBJ. "infection" is a broad term.

Well, I think you got your answer. SBJ is a damn fine beer and has had no issues reported of this sort.

I just would like to jump in on this and reiterate that there really is no connection between infected beers and feeling ill. Infection typically means that a wild yeast got into a beer that should not have had wild yeast. If an infected beer is making you ill, then I would expect that beers with brett, wild ales and lambics would also make you sick.

You can get a type of Samonella* from rancid peanuts (or peanut butter), but I believe SBJ uses artificial peanut flavor.

    *same symptoms you describe

I have no idea what this beer is, I just had to stop by and say this is one of the greatest thread titles I've ever seen, even if it was accidental.

I'm sorry you didn't feel good though OP.
