i stopped by the tasting room today and Switchback did a small batch of Berliner Weisse for on premise only. They are serving it with authentic woodruff & raspberry syrups.

This will not last long and it's excellent,

I love Berliner Weisse but someone will have to explain to me what the hell woodruff syrup is like. Is there an American equivalent or is this stuff really region-specific like Vegemite for Australians.

In a berliner weisse, to me it tastes like Lucky Charms cereal. People say "fresh" "sweet" and "herbal" though, so ymmv.

It tastes like grass and hay mixed with a bit of vanilla to me.

Hmm sounds good, thanks @Auror and @Sweatshirt, I'm leaving tomorrow for vacation and will be spending a few days in Berlin, maybe I'll come across it there.

It's on the list for Friday's Brewfest sessions - hoping to try it there.

They will also be pouring a Gose w/sea salt & lime at the fest.

It's sweet tasting and green. You can buy bottles of syrup at a lot of stores, especially in larger cities. Bottles might also be labeled as "Waldmeister" syrup - that's the German word for Woodruff.

I thought the base Berliner was really, really good. I would have purchased a bomber of it, if any was available. I also enjoyed their pale Bock (Switchbock) as well.

You're not lying. Stopped in at lunch and had the Weiss sampler, it was excellent.
