My daughter actually loves watching sports too. I go to that before cartoons or tv.in general. I try to get her to play before going to the tv and usually only use it to wind down at the end of the night. Girls like football too. Let's not perpetuate gender inequality onto the next generation. Heck my wife's cousins kid gets his ass handed to him by this one girl in wrestling all the time. They are 11 years old but hey. I think it would be pretty cool if my daughter wanted to wrestle. If she wants to do ballet that would be fine too.

I just think it is interesting that me and my friends discuss the tv shows to this psychological extent. My one friend hates the little Mermaid because Ariel disobeys her father and changes for a man. Haha he had 3 little girls and is also a chovanist (spelling) pig who thinks women should take care of men and spend their time cleaning and cooking. I on the other hand support women's rights fully and married a doctor! (Doctor of pharmacy anyhow).

 

Yeah my brother lives on that block. But he is at his first day of work so probably not a chance...

I'm not sure that boys liking football equates to gender inequality, and I also don't think there is anything wrong with a clear delineation between the sexes. My son came out liking trucks, and basketballs, and is rough as hell. Didn't come from anything other than his genetics. He's probably going to be stronger than his female cousins. He's probably going to be less compassionate too. All of that is fine with me. If he came out loving dolls, drawing flowers, and singing hannah montana, that would be fine with me too. But generally speaking, boys and girls are different and that's not a bad thing.

I'm not caught up with being PC in the face of reality. But, I'm not going to be deliberately offensive either. Come what may, que sera, and all that jazz.

 

Trust me, I get my fair share of disney jr. I was just commenting that I had a kickass morning.

I'm not trying to drag you into that debate either. I just think my daughter could beat up your son due to the strictness her father places on her television privledges. J/k!!!!! But I am a total wierdo about probably meaningless stuff like what I feed my kid or what she watches on tv.

I even threw away some toy food stuff my wife got in bulk from a garage sale because it said McDonald's or dairy queen on it. My sister in law looked at me like I was an alien when j tried to explain I didn't want my 18 month old given subliminal advertising.
