I'm visiting Sydney from the US and was hoping for an inside scoop about nice bottle shops in the area. I saw the other recent thread about beer bars and plan to check them out. Anyone interested in a little IP trade?
I'm sure there will be quite a few bites for that trade shortly Barny's in Rosebery is the one I recommend, but I'm not a local so my knowledge is pretty limited. http://www.barnys.com.au/index.html
There are probably 5 main stores: - Platinum Liquor (2 outlets). This blog gives you an inkling of the personality of the beer manager, Adam. http://platinumliquor.blogspot.com.au/ - Oak barrel - located in CBD itself http://www.oakbarrel.com.au/craft-beer-full-listing/ - Beer Cartel http://www.beercartel.com.au/In-Store-Growlers - Camperdown Cellars - Barny's. With the exception of Platinum Liquor, the selection is relatively similar between stores, with a cross-section of Australia/NZ (obviously), Belgian US, Scandinavian, UK and Japanese stock. Some things might surprise you, others confound (especially pricing on US imports). Sent you a PM regarding potential in-person trade.
The Beer Cartel is by far the best craft beer store in Sydney. You'll find many of the top rated beers from this site, being sold there.
the only other one i deal with isn't in the centre of sydney but the outskirts and thats leura cellars. can't go past their range and have a lot of the hard to find belgians as well
