Taco Bell and Beer?

What will be the price point? That's what always gets me. I see a ton of little places around my way with a beer and wine license. But I guess to offset those costs, and to maybe just gouge the popularity of beer, I constantly see nothing but bottles being served for anywhere from $4 to $6. Do they think the world is full of drunks? Even at a place like Rudys BBQ (big in Texas and the SW) I see bottles of beer for less than cheap.

When I think Taco Bell, I think of cheap food. Cheap quality as well. Why would I pair that with a $4 bottle of Bud Light?

 

I guess Chicago is a testing ground for stuff like this? There is a Starbucks by the Art Institute that sells alcohol as well.

I often wonder what the average BAC is for a Taco Bell customer after say, midnight on weekends. I know if I go (or should I say get taken - and I don't do it too often anymore as age has somewhat caught up with me with respect to torturing my colon) it is certainly at or above the legal limit.

Nevertheless I think this is a great idea but I also wonder about price point. 5 or 6 bucks buys a lot of Taco Bell and I can't remember the last time I actually sat in a Taco Bell to eat.

Wow. I had not heard about this. Not entirely sure what to think of it but I'll definitely let you guys know what they end up offering when I order a box of 12 hard shell tacos. It's been a long time since I've had Taco Bell.

 

I prefer mine separate: beer first then Taco Bell or Krystal's or Waffle House but if I'm in NoLa a Lucky Dog for sure. I know IHOP in the ATL airport has beer....bacon & beer....mmmm

Stopped eating at Taco Bell after hearing a story that their meat is of such a low grade that they have to bleach it to kill pathogenic bacteria.

 

I remember that the Pizza Hut closest to where I lived growing up served beer (not sure if that's something that all Pizza Huts or even most of them do, but the one I've been to most often did; I remember shortly after finishing my last class at community college the whole class went and got pizza and a bucket of... I think it was Coors Light?... was split between those at the table who drank beer), so a "fast food-ish" chain restaurant selling beer doesn't seem that weird to me.

Of course, a pizza place is closer to a sit-down restaurant than most fast food places, which lends itself more to beer than the "get in, eat, and get out quickly" sort of fast food place... so who knows how well it'll work for Taco Bell.

 

Are they gonna put the beer in a to go cup and give it to you at the drive thru at 1 am? (could not resist) I doubt it will have appeal to the lunchtime crowd.

They should serve Bud Light Chelada and Cave Creek Chili Beer so the quality of the beer matches the quality of the food.

 

This would never work in Los Angeles, or California in general.
