Is there any way to incorporate this into the new forum? I know on other forums/sites I frequent I have the ability to tag a username with a special character (for example, @member on Twitter). I've noticed some times that people refer to other users who haven't posted in a particular thread and it might be helpful if they could additionally tag the user so that he/she would receive an alert that they've been mentioned.

This would be particularly useful if you're trying to get input from a particular user on a subject by eliminating a couple of steps in letting that person know they've been called upon for their input. Just an idea.

I just did this and thought it would be helpful if I could have tagged them to bring it to there attention.

I suppose you could do this the hard way and manually type the [ quote ] code with the username so it would pop up in their alerts?

That would be faking quotes essentially, which could get confusing and annoying. And what if the member doesn't want to be pulled into a discussion with alerts?

If you want a specific member's feedback ... message them/point them to the thread.

Personally, it would be much easier/less annoying to ignore an alert than a message. But that's just my two cents.
