Been travelling to Tahoe for July 4th for many years. We've always traveled in with bottles that we acquired over the course of the year for a week long tasting. We are looking to pivot away from that model (found ourselves drunk all day, not cellaring beer that much anymore, etc) and want to try to pick up some goodies locally that can get us through the week.

Hoping you all can direct me to some breweries in the area that have package for takeaway (botles/cans as opposed to growlers). Will to travel an hour or less from Tahoe City. Thanks in advance!

FiftyFifty and Tahoe Mtn Brewing both bottle and aren't far from each other in Truckee.

    Thx.

Familiar with Fifty/Fifty Elipse, but do they have bottles of other styles year round.

    Also, Tahoe Mtn any good?

I'll vouch for Tahoe Mountain, I think they're pretty damn good - definitely improved significantly in the last few years. The taproom in Truckee always has a ton of beers on tap as well as available to-go in bottles. They also have a brewpub right in Tahoe City which has decent pub food and to-go bottles.

FiftyFifty bottles different stuff throughout the year, including BART, Annularity, and Totality (Eclipse base beer), though I can't comment on availability. You can definitely fill growlers there.

I've had my ups and downs with Tahoe Mountain, but overall I like their beer, and they are sure to have lots of to go bottles at the Truckee location. The Tahoe City pub has less bottles to go, but a nice in-house list, such as the 3F Golden Blend I was forced to drink to my dome

Alibi Ale Works in Incline Village does some canning. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of their stuff when I was there in Jan. There's a good smoke house / bbq place just up the street from them too.

I second Alibi. Tahoe Mountain was definitely good as well. FiftyFifty was okay, I don't think I saw any bottles to go really, maybe BART or some other beers not as popular as their stouts but really not much.

Ol Republic, Nevada City CA, is nearby and has cans. Tasty dortmunder, kolsch, lagers and the like. Revision (ex Knee Deep brewer) just starting brewing and bottling this week in Sparks. They should be canning soon too. You also have Great Basin and Brasserie St James in Reno.

Nice. Great Basin and B. St James can/bottle? Which would you say is the best in Reno?

I really like Alibi, I think their beer is better than Fifty Fifty. 4 pack cans of Alibi are widely available in the North Tahoe/Truckee area. They can a porter, pale ale, and saison. All very good.

Bumping this. Now that Revision Brewing has been open for awhile, what are peoples thoughts on their IPAs?

I posted a Revision Thread in the Mountain Forum. https://www.beeradvocate.com/commun...ewing-reno-sparks-nevada.475191/#post-5460216

But apparently nobody in Nevada drinks their beer yet......

They are now distributed all over the Sacramento and Auburn in Norcal. Price point is a bit high for the 4 pack 12oz bottles.

The Double IPAs were solid West Coast beers. The single IPA was ok. I didn't try the Triple IPA since that is not my thing anymore.

What part of Tahoe are you in this year? I'll be there.
Feel free to PM me if you don't want to discuss in public.

    Bump.

Headed back out for the 4th.

Anyone doing NE style IPAs in the Tahoe area?

Just saw Revision's extensive tap list of haze. These beers stand up to east coast NEIPAs (read: Other Half, Trill, Treehouse, etc)?
