Heading to the beach around Port St. Joe on Saturday and was hoping to hit a couple of bottle shops in Tallahassee on the way down..

After some quick searching I have come up with this list. Anything I am missing or any of these places I should just skip? Would you rank them differently?

Anything in particular that I should look for this saturday?

    Tallahassee, FL

    1. Proof Bottle Shop
    2. ABC Liqours (on Thomasville and Betton)
    3. Market Square Liquors (Market Square location)
    4. Beer Stop
    5. New Leaf

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Proof does their new releases on Friday i believe..i was there about a month ago and they had some new stuff in...myu buddy went last weekend and picked me up two bottles of "between the staves" that i am pretty intrigued to try. I think i stopped at beer stop when i left, and did not see a whole lot of things worth picking up. in the back, they had some 2013 SN bigfoot for 9.99 and you may find an older bottle of big sound or cucumber saison if thats your thing, but nothing special. I havent been to the other stores so cant tell you much about them.

thanks. I would be interested in the cucumber saison for sure. That would be a nice addition to my beach drinking.

That's about the order... if you are staying in town id hit up fermentation for a beer too. Id probably pass on new leaf. If new leaf has it then beer stop or one of the other 3 well to.

Your ranking is about right... 2 and 3 are pretty much equal (note that its worth asking at market square for stuff... They stash rare beer and wine in the back for years and every once in a while you get lucky and they will pull one for you... There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to their idiocracy and its mostly a pain since theve told me they were out only to put stuff out months later but its work a shot).

Proof kinda releases new stuff on fridays
... This is a new policy and this Friday they will be releasing some 3f stuff. Usually doesn't sell out by Friday night but cantillon and the more limited 3f does so just depends what it is.

The ABC on the far north side (5454 thomasville road) still has a little Hi Res.

I was only able to stop at proof bottling but it was a very solid stop. The clerk was great. Suggested some beer beers and only regret was not being able to get a growler fill.

I would post a picture but I am failing to see how.

    Anyway

    Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

The Quick N Save on the corner of Tennessee and Meridian is a secret gold mine for rare beers in Tallahassee. It is a convenience store owned and operated by a beer fanatic.

Make sure you hit up the ABC that has the growler station (forget which location it is) because they sometimes have some real gems available for growler fills. When I was up in Tallahassee in mid-January they were STILL filling 32oz growlers of Bourbon County Vanilla Rye. I was able to get two 32oz growlers for only $20 each

thanks. So can I bring my own growlers and get them filled or will they only fill ABC growlers?

ABC on Thomasville Rd. has the growler station. There's also Growler Country on Cap Cir NE that has some good stuff every now and then. Right now I believe the ABC has BCBS available. They tapped a keg a few weeks ago.

Yes, they will fill your own growlers as long as they are 32oz.

Growler Country on Capital Circle NE has 24 taps of constantly rotating good stuff and a small bottle shop.

Proof just had their anniversary celebration and had some pretty crazy treatments, I'm sure they'll have some of those hanging around next weekend.

Starship 850 (Starfruit American Pale Ale)
    Apple Pie (American Pale Ale)
    Cantaloupe Guru (IPA)
    Tropical White Oak Guru (IPA)
Creature Tracks (Stout w/ Peanut Butter & Moostracks)
Putin Annexes the 850 (American Pale w/ Mint & Lime)
    Raspberry Blind Fate (Berliner Weisse)
Fishy Creatures (Ben & Jerry's Phish Food Stout)
    Creatures Garcia (Stout w/ Cherries)
    Coffee Creatures (Stout w/ Coffee)
    Cinnamon White Chocolate Creatures (Stout)
Creamsicle 850 (American Pale w/ Citrus & Vanilla)
    Grapefruit Guru (IPA)
Honey Dew Pepper 850 (American Pale)
    Chipotle 850 (American Pale)
Elvis Enters the Ghost (Peanut Butter and Banana Porter)
Old Fashioned Assassin Caterpillar (Old Fashioned treated Rye Pale Ale)
    Rhubarb Blind Fate (Berliner Weisse)
    Strawberry Lemonade Mango Wit (Witbier)
Lime Sherbet Blind Fate (Berliner Weisse)

The only ones I know for sure that got kicked were the Tropical White Oak (which was amazing) and the Cantaloupe Guru. You never really know what they'll have on tap when you go, but they do $7 flights of 4 beers so that may be your best bet. If you're a fan of Westbrook's Gose they have a gose named Kissing Giants that might be even better. I highly recommend it if it's on the tap list, but honestly you can't really go wrong with anything you get.

Also, btw their pub location on Tennessee Street has Bourbon County Vanilla Rye on tap right now. Don't know if it will make it until Saturday, but there's probably a decent chance it will.

I will most likely be going to the Tennessee Street Location, the pub and bottle shop.

Last time I was there they wouldnt do growler fills at that location. Is that still the case? I am just passing through so posting up at the bar to have a flight isnt an option.

    Thanks for the information.

Ahhhh. I believe they do growler fills at that location. I've never had mine filled there as I frequent the RRSq location more often, but I'm almost positive I've seen them fill some there. They'll have most of the core Proof beers there though. I'd recommend Assassin Caterpillar (Rye), or MangoWit (Witbier) out of their year round beers that are basically guaranteed to be at that location.
