This Friday - 11/07 - 5 PM Burley Barleywine Aged on Coconut in a Rye Whiskey barrel - 22 oz bottles

    Who's going?

I'm going to drive over after work from Orlando. I don't look forward to the I4 traffic but beer makes up for it.

The last few bottles they released have been pretty good (milk stout, peanut butter stout and pumpkin stout). I am not big on barelywines, but I will probably pick up a bottle.
I didn't like Gusto (belgian spiced stout) and Going the Distance (session ipa???) but overall the rest of their offerings are growing on me.

I've only been to the brewery two times but both times I was pleased with the beers that I ordered. I did get the brew baby milk stout when it was bottled. I also had it on nitro and it was infused with local coffee and that was very good.

I am in the same boat with regards to barleywines but since this one is aged in a barrel, I want to get a few bottles (for now and later.)

Wonder if this is their first BA offering in a bottle? I don't see any other barrel aged beers on their site/this site.

Gusto was also aged in rye whiskey barrels.
Wasn't my thing but maybe this will be better.

I had to work near Three Palms today and stopped by after I got off. Had the Burley on tap. I enjoyed it, lots of coconut and not as heavy on the tongue as I would have expected.

Their hot stuff is pretty damn good. So much flavor for such a light stout.

Randy does a nice job with his production. I'm glad to see him getting quality bottles out on a regular basis AND doing it in an orderly and simple fashion. Great job Three Palms!

The only one I've had was Gusto and thought it was not good at all. The mouthfeel was also incredibly thin.

Didn't get an exact bottle count. Way less than 100. He only brewed one barrel total (split between bottles and keg.)

I got the last bottle and I arrived only a few minutes after 5pm.

Tried it in a flight with the spiced darkness and the hot schtuff stouts. All were great.

Did anyone get any of these bottles aside from 1 person?

word on the street was there were a total of 7 bottles available. don't know if it's true, but that's what i heard. hell of a "release" if so lol

I expected there to be a bigger line when I arrived and that many others would arrive after me. The line was only 5 deep when I got there and only 3-4 people came in after me inquiring about the bottles (in the next 30 or so minutes.)

One reason it wasn't that busy was that there were many bottles pre-sold at the brewery prior to the event. There were a few fb posts about the pre-sales. I even attempted to do a pre-order over the phone/internet but they were only allowing pre-sales in person at the brewery. The majority of the bottles were pre-sold. What was left was put in the cooler, 1 per person. At least he did 1 per person or the first person in line would have likely snagged them all.

From my memory, I only saw 3-4 bottles on the bar (in front of their owners,) 3 bottles in line in front of me and 2 bottles in the cooler. My friend and I got those two bottles. That would be 8-9 so to say 7 wasn't too far off.

I think the bottle amount was pretty in line with the crowd I experienced. Had 50 people been lined up prior to 5pm and 42 of them were turned away, it would have been a disaster.

hmph... that's an interesting way to do a release.

After looking up more info, the past several bottle releases were handled similarly. I can't fault them for wanting to do pre-sales to help the locals who have access. I think the fact that all of the releases have sold out should indicate to them that they need to up the production size for all future beers they plan to bottle.

true. i'm semi local (live in bradenton, work in st pete) and i'd be happy to get out there for a release, but i'm not making the drive if only 7 bottles are going to be available. i love to support local breweries but my time is too valuable for that nonsense.

    I can't fault that logic.

I left 1 hour earlier from Orlando than originally planned and would have a completely different attitude had I shown up at 6:00pm and not gotten a bottle.

(icing on the cake was getting more Good Gourd and 120minute from the TW in front of CCB.)
