Heading down to Tampa/St. Pete over the weekend and have the below stops that I'd like to make. Anything that I should skip or add? Tampa Coppertail Three Palms Dunedin Seventh Dunedin Brewery Largo Barley Mow Seminole/ Clearwater Rapp Pair O’ Dice **May hit some St. Pete spots but have visited them before in the past.
Yeah, been to CCB way too much to count. Will be hitting CCB Brewpub for a bite. Staying near Cycle, so will most likely hit that later in the evening.
I'd add sun behind the 7venth in your Dunedin selection. J/k man, have a great trip! Sounds awesome, I'm jealous
To a point I understand not wanting to hit up CCB because you've been there plenty of times before, but I couldn't imagine not stopping there on a trip to Tampa. Their tap list is constantly changing. Other than their year-rounds, it's always a different experience.
Yea I would still go to CCB. They have Sherry Caffe Americano on tap as well as the blackberry grove on cask.
I'd throw Angry Chair on your Tampa list because: 1) Their beer's great; 2) Their people are awesome; and 3) There are a LOT of good food choices nearby (e.g., Rooster & Till, The Refinery, Fodder & Shine ... hell, Cappy's Pizza).
Making a similar trip next month and I was going to ask how does Angry Chair compare to Three Palms and Coppertail? Like if you could only pick two of the three?
You're asking me to rank the order I love my children?! Seriously, all three are really good. Gun to my head, my two would be Coppertail (Ybor City) and Angry Chair (Seminole Heights). Here's why: Those two are MUCH closer together than Three Palms, which is east of town in Brandon (almost to I-75). If you're staying out that way, then I'd say Coppertail and Three Palms but most folks visiting here stay downtown or near Westshore. It's an easy, relatively short jump from Coppertail to Angry Chair. And between the two are potential stops at Tampa Bay Brewing (also in Ybor) and Southern Brewing & Winemaking (also in Seminole Heights). And I can't overemphasize the good food choices these days in Seminole Heights. Hit me up on BM if you want more info; always happy to help a fellow Virginian!
Thanks for the tips. Will look at food options in Seminole Heights. We'll be staying at St. Pete's Beach and daytripping to the Aquarium. Looks like Angry Chair and Coppertail are our best bets, geographically.
Sounds like a good trip! I mentioned some of the food options in my earlier email. If you're staying at St. Pete Beach, consider hitting up Peg's Cantina in nearby Gulfport. It's where Cycle got its start and, in addition to some great food, they also have a nice (Cycle-heavy) tap list. Good folks there.
Guys, please suggest some good local must try foodie places in Tampa/Clearwater/St Petes. Going to be in the area this weekend from Texas for the first time and hitting up CCB, Rapp and Cycle. Also what are the best beaches in the area? So far got Fort DeSoto, Clearwater and Honeymoon Island on the list. Any other suggestions would be appreciated!
Avoid Clearwater Beach on the weekends unless you want to spend hours in your car waiting to cross the causeway, only to find no parking once you get there. As you mentioned, Fort Desoto is great, as is Pass-A-Grille Beach. For food, check out Bodega in St Pete for awesome Cuban food and coffee. Also, Red Mesa Mercado or Taco Bus for tacos. One of my favs is Moon Under Water, a Colonial British restaurant downtown.
If you go to Three Palms, hit Brocatos on Columbus and 50th for an excellent Cuban sandwich and the best (and softball sized) devil crab and stuffed potato balls around (IMO). As far as breweries, looks like youve got it covered. Might wanna stop into Total Wine & More as well for one of the best craft selections.
Amen to Brocatos....that deviled crab! Now I have to work a trip to Brocatos into my holiday weekend schedule!
Angry Chair is a must stop. Rooster and the Till is a great restaurant that you can walk to from angry chair. You also have Cigar City Cider and Mead in Ybor not far from Coppertail.
