Heading down to the area this weekend and am debating where to stay to be close to key breweries. Does anyone recommend staying in St. Pete over Tampa to be closer to good spots?

Secondly, I'd love to get some recommendations of must-see breweries outside of CCB, Seventh Sun, and Pegs (places I've been to). Cheers!

I always stay in St Pete with my wife.
We find a cheap hotel north of downtown St Pete and bounce from downtown, north st Pete, and Tampa.

St Pete would be a better place to stay mainly because there are way more options, but either would be fine, each are only about 20 minutes from one another and maybe 10 more down to Ybor

    Have fun
    Cheers

I did a brewery hop thru Pinellas a few weeks back. Hit cycle, greenbench, st pete brewing 3 daughters, rapp, barleymow, and 7venth sun. By the end of the day, I could barely drive.....

Downtown St. Pete, otherwise might as well stay in Tampa. If you're downtown there are a lot of solid options within walking distance, and lots of good restaurants and bars too. Cycle Brewing, St. Pete Brewing, Ale and The Witch, are all within walking distance. Green Bench would be about a mile walk. Nothing is walkable in Tampa.

By the way, you want to hit up Cycle not Pegs. All the good beer is at Cycle now. They currently have NooNer B6 and Ecto Cooliner on tap. Rapp is also a must hit.

Let the better price/location/amenities for what you want in a room be your guide as you will be driving to the main attractions in the bay area regardless of whether you stay in either location. Tampa to Dunedin is quite a spread

St Pete. Good breweries but also a lot of other things to walk around to right downtown. There are a handful of hotels right in downtown that you can get reasonable rates at. Z Grille is a great place to eat downtown.

St. Pete it is...anyone know if the Trolley rides down Central? Seems to be where the majority of breweries are.

Pinellas dominates now, CCB nothing like it used to be a few yrs back. So sad.

I'm going to a Bucs game in October and found out the CCB Brewpub is like a mile away from the hotel I'm staying at. Gonna be great to grab some nice beer after the game.

If you are going to a Buc's game the brewery is less than 2mi away, much better selection than the brewpub, might be slammed after a game though.

Can you rank them in terms of quality for this IPA/sour lover? Will be there in about four weeks and won't have time to hit them all.

I'd say cycle, Rapp, green bench, and barley mow. Cycle has ecto--cooliner, a tangerine berliner on tap now, Rapp has the #1 rated gose in the world (according to Ratebeer), and green bench has "the surrealist", an unreal, incredible sour ipa ( I have never had anything like it and I LOVE it).

Forgot to include 7venth sun in there too. They have great beers too!
