I'm a home brewer, and bought a case of new 22oz brown bottles from Williams Brewing (supply store) a few years ago, and they were delivered in a "Tap It" box. Had never heard of the brewery before (located in San Luis Obispo). I was wandering around Total Wine in Redondo Beach a few months ago and saw "Tap It IPA" on the shelf for the first time. Bought a six pack just for a change of pace. Pleasantly surprised - It's phenomenal - big floral nose, nice flavor balance, crisp, easy drinking. I rushed back the next day, and they were out. Didn't see it stocked again until this week, and loaded up. Highly recommended!
I agree. I had their IPA a while back and liked it a lot too. I've been too busy trying other stuff to pick it up again but would also recommend it. I haven't seen anything from them besides their IPA and PA though.
wow you bought some Tap It on a whim at Total Wine and it was actually fresh?? (or fresh enough to detect some good flavors)?? Buy a lottery ticket soon. PS- their IPA won gold at GABF a few years ago.
I'm not aware of a bottle dating system for Tap It, there was probably no way for the guy to tell if they were fresh, I personally have avoided their beers completely because of it. Their labels and branding are also ugly, but that wouldn't stop me from buying.
FWIW the 12 packs have a packaged date on the box. I'm a local so I pick up a 12 pack every once in a while when they can be had $13.99-14.99. I remember it tasting better a few years back but it's still a good beer to keep in the fridge. There are some good hop flavors but overall just too watery and lacking in real character compared to others
They are in SLO. Their IPA won GABF gold medal few years ago. It''s the same year Alpine Duet won silver...(yup you heard it right) Some wholefoods in Bay Area get them "relatively fresh"- still good but might not be good enough for those "one-week-old" bros.
