Any BA's going? All I see is cavedave on the roster. I know it won't appeal to most of us geeks, but I am heading up with a few beer buds. Would love to get in on a tasting, or organize one with a few BA's. I will be bringing a Tart of Darkness, Perfect storm, and a Beat. And, possibly some others.
I will be going on the Saturday session. I will be pregaming Friday night with a bunch of other people. I'm bringing some Saranac IPA, SN Summerfest & Long Trail Double Bag. I took a look at what the breweries will be serving, some of the items look tasty, while others are just supplying what you could buy off the shelves, which is slightly disappointing. This will be my first time going, so looking forward to it.
I will be there sat and sunday. coming from 'cuse and staying at scribner hollow lodge. pretty excited. first time attendee and lots of small ny breweries we have not had the opportunity to try. The carribean food theme should be interesting as well. May end up bringing a growler or two of middle ages brewery beer. If there is a specific place everyone plans to meet up post and we would love to join in. Also, any suggestions for good food in and around the area for dinner? Any good take-out places or places that deliver as well near hunter mountain?
Sunday only for me as well, though I wanted to go both days, esp. as my club, Mohonk Homebrewers, will be there in force on Sat. Doing that bus with Boris thing so no worries about driving. He really is a mellow guy and extreme beer geek, though you wouldn't guess it from his radio personality. Look for me and Paul hanging with Tommy Keegan to anyone who wants to meet inside.
"every year I say it's my last... see all y'all Saturday." is what I think he meant. Meaning he always ends up coming back. I'll swing by and say Hi cavedave. Love Keegan's!
Spider Bite RIS was definitely one of my favorite beers of the day. No idea how they're going to get "Boris the Spider" to slip past Hoppin' Frog for bottle approval process, though. I brought it up with the guys pouring and they kinda gave me a blank stare.
Spider Bite Boris was pretty decent. My favorites still stand as the IPA/PA lineup from Peekskill Brewery. Can't state enough how well Jeff is making these beers. Their Double Standard DIPA (formerly known as Double Feature - Citra & Simcoe hops) is amazing. It hits all the same notes that Heady Topper does, and it's the first beer that I noticed was very similar in aroma and taste. It's very close. Only able to make it Saturday, but the standouts for me.... - All of Peekskills Brews. - Boris the Spider - Southern Tier BBA Backburner - Three Heads The Kind - Sixpoints Spice of Life Apollo hop was great - Ommegang BPA on draft had the most glorious head of any beer I've had
Backburner was truly amazing. Went back for seconds of that for sure. You try 3HB Bromingo? I got to take home a bottle haven't tried it yet.
I didn't unfortunately. Hopefully I can find a bottle locally. I like what they've been doing, especially with their hoppy brews.
Glad you liked The Kind. Hope I had the pleasure of pouring it for you. And yes, the Peekskills brews were sublime.
Most likely were! Haha. John at Halftime was the one that highly suggested to try your stuff, and I'm glad. The bottles I've had have been great.
Backburner was definetly good Liked the 3HB Common Man Lake Placid had a Maple Ale that I just kept going back for Also loved the Spider bite Scotch Ale I didn't even hit all the breweries that I wanted to. I really wanted to hit Capt. Lawrence and Ithaca, but didnt make it to either
