Thinking of attending for the first time this year, would love to hear some general feedback on the festival in recent years and get a little thread going. I do have a question or two that past attendees might be able to answer:

The website says the ticket price includes all beer samples and food but then it says you get ten sample chits upon entry, with more available at customer service. I am assuming those are no additional charge but maybe I’m wrong? And does that become a huge line? How many more chits will they give you once you get through the line?

They also say food is available for purchase. Is it that food samples are available and included in the ticket price but bigger portions/meals need to be purchased? Last time I went to the NYC beer week brewers event I got wrecked because it was like a line 30 deep for a single oyster, I eventually just gave up on that and focused my time on drinking.

What’s the general vibe? I am an old(ish) fuck and not looking for a fratty rager. We might stay at the lodge too but not if it’s an all night super loud party vibe. I have a baby at home and if we are asking the grandparents to give us the night off I don’t know that I want to spend it somewhere I won’t be able to sleep. Rabble rabble rabble etc. this is why I end up drinking at home most often.

I’ve been the last 5 years and am in the area frequently as my girlfriend’s family has a house across the street from the mountain and I’ll sum it up in one word: awesome.

I’ve had a great time every single year. It’s a very chill experience with people of all ages - definitely not a frat rage party type of event.

While they state only 10 samples, it is not enforced. No breweries ever click the ticket so there is no worries there. Lines are usually very spread out. Breweries set up in the lodge and various tents outside. It is very spread out and spacious. Some breweries have even been selling cans/bottles for take away, so consider bringing a bag.

As for the lodging, I can’t speak to that. However, if it helps, I haven’t heard any bad stories.

The only negative can be the weather. A few years we had 60s/70s and great weather. Last year it poured and made the tents an absolute muddy mess inside. It’s a gamble but I’d say 100% worth it.

    Cheers!

Oh and as for the food - they have bbqs set up all over the place pushing out burgers, dogs, etc. and a buffet area in the lodge where everything is free. The food for sale is speciality items from vendors (jerky, hot sauces, pretzels, etc.). Don’t miss out on the jerky guy - the alligator jerky and whiskey bbq are insane.

Come say hi! I will be pouring for Woodland Farm Brewery.

Last year was cold and wet AF on Sunday but Saturday was nice.

Maybe I got it wrong but I thought Saturday was pouring and super muddy last year? Could have been 2 years ago! I remember the main tent being straight mud but I didn’t really care at all. Also remember playing wiffle ball in the rain in the driveway after after the festival and it was pouring. Temp wise though was about 55?

Yeah IDK remember but I am pretty sure thought that Sunday I spent hungover and wet and pouring beer all day and couldn't have been more ready to go home.

Last year on Saturday was a swamp, but not because of rain....it was all the snow melting and coming down the mountain.

That’s what it was. It did start raining after the festival. I know this for sure because I slipped down the driveway and cut my pants open. Successful day for sure.

Cant wait for this year. 4 weeks away!

So much for the nice weather. High of 42 Saturday with snow in the morning. Windy.

Hoping we are in the expo center again this year. The map should be up today or tomorrow.

@GoodJustin I didn’t see Woodland on the map, but if you’re in the tent I’d bring an extra layer or two. Cloudy/wind always feels worse at Hunter.

Not trying to sound like a wimp but given the forecast I’m glad we skipped this year in favor of homebrew con in providence.

Here’s hoping the food is more plentiful and beers flow throughout (that’s the real reason we skipped to try another event)

We are in the expo center, H1 block on the map itself but it appears we got left off the listing on P2. We are between The Farmhouse Brewery and Lucas Candies, who make awesome stuff BTW.
