I've been trying to figure out how to know where to go drink in Austin when I'm visiting family. I live in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and I can almost always find out what's on tap online wherever I want to go... But when I'm in Austin I can't find taplists anywhere. I know the Digital Pour app works for Draught House and Untapped has menus for a few rare places. A few places like ABW and Oddwood has their current beers on their website. I can't find anything in the Beer menus app. But the vast majority of bars or breweries that I look for in Austin I can't find anything. Is there some other method people use to find taplists in Austin? I did not think it would be nearly this difficult being the high tech and beery city that Austin is. For example we just went to Friends and Allies blind because we had no idea what would be on. We went to Southern Heights last time we were in and had a general idea of the beer philosophy but didn't know what was on currently.
This is a problem in Austin. Pinthouse does the best job with live tap feeds on their website. But most of the time, you're just out of luck. Some places will occasionally tweet out a pic of their current lineup, but that method is woefully inadequate. We can help each other out by posting a tap board pic from the dark spots to r/austinbeer.
