It looks like the old Union Jack's in Bethesda (Woodmont Triangle) is being replaced by a new tap house, aptly named Tapp'd. Per the article below it will feature more than 40 taps and 100 bottles and was originally slated for a late March opening but I believe that has been pushed back slightly due to certain renovations. Bethesda Magazine Article I live right around the corner from the location so I plan to walk over to see what's going on tonight, I tried calling them a few minutes ago but it doesn't seem like they have a voicemail set-up yet. I just caught wind of this place this morning when I checked Twitter and noticed that Jailbreak retweeted something that Tapp'd posted yesterday. It's possible they have opened, but I can't find anything online and their website isn't finished yet so I'll report back once I've checked it out. It also seems like they were interviewing folks for kitchen and front of the house management last week, so I doubt they are totally up and running. If anyone else has any information they can share that would be great; hopefully this place can establish itself as the first real tap house in Bethesda! Tapp'd Website
http://www.taphunter.com/location/tappd-bethesda/4708741966725120 I will be shocked if any beer place in Montgomery County can rival the good places in DC or NoVA.
I walked past the location last night and it still looked like this: It's safe to say we're looking at a late April/May opening at this point, I would guess.
Thanks for sharing the link! Agreed. Right now the only places I really go to in MontCo are The Pour House and Downtown Crown Beer and Wine, mainly because they are on my way home from work. If Tapp'd can at least maintain a wide variety of fresh, local beer I'll be satisfied with that.
No problem! I have never been to The Pour House but my fear for Tapp'd is that the pricing will be similar: Lindeman's Framboise: $14.00 What the what? I hope that's for a 750ml bottle...
Yeah, good point, The Pour House does have some outlandish prices. I can't remember if prices for Tapp'd were listed when you originally posted the TapHunter link but it looks like most beers are $6.50 - 8.50.
You do know that Neighborhood Restaurant Group is opening a beer garden in Pike & Rose, right? And while the places might not be as good as DC or VA, would be nice to have some form of local option. I believe a Tapp'd is going in Rockvile Town Center too... http://www.bethesdamagazine.com/Bet...nticipated-2016-Restaurant-Openings-Expected/
I heard about the Pike & Rose beer garden a while back, but then hadn't heard anything about the progress or completion. It's definitely nice to have some solid local options, which is why I'm so excited about the prospects of a Tapp'd being literally right around the corner from where I live. The more choices we have without needing to drive to VA or into DC, the better! As noted, the only thing that is unfortunate is having to deal with the MontoCo prices.
I HOPE prices get better. And yes I don't love the prices or what they might be, but the offset cost of not having to travel is also helpful to me.
Definitely, I'll deal with paying a few dollars more if it means the cost/hassle of travel goes away! I love going to ChurchKey and while it's not too difficult to get to from where I am, the parking is such a pain in the ass.
I did a quick Google search for the World of Beer in Rockville, looks like there is one coming to Bethesda too: http://www.bethesdamagazine.com/Bethesda-Beat/Web-2016/World-of-Beer-Coming-to-Bethesda/
Bring on all the chain beer establishments! We love those in Bethesda! I suppose I should prepare for a BJ's brewhouse to take up valuable real estate soon.
Is a new NRG place technically a chain? Montgomery County is what it is, I'm not going to complain about place with actual good beer going in.
My comment was in reference to the World of Beer coming to town along with our love of Rock Bottom and American Tap Room. However, a place with actual good beer would be nice.
Tapp'd is now officially open! It opened yesterday and all the information seems to be on their Facebook page. Here is a link to their website and it has all their beers, etc. http://www.tappdbethesda.com/
Draft menu looks decent (for Bethesda) and I like they are doing flights and samples and seem to have a focus on local stuff. I could also get used to getting a $3 sample of Duchesse.
