My Dad is up this weekend and we're looking to hit a new (to us) taproom. We've done the following: Surly, Steel Toe, Excelsior, Indeed, Dangerous Man Barley Johns and Town Hall. Which others are worth a look/drink? Sociable Cider Dayblock Bang Tin Whiskers Big Wood Boom Island Or any others I'm missing Thanks!
Dayblock is worth a look. Their beer is pretty good and their pizza is great. If you are a bit underwhelmed by their beer, walk or drive the three or four blocks to Town Hall and the Republic. Either way, you'll end up ticking a new brew pub and you'll have access to some of the best beer Minnesota has to offer. You can't go wrong. Also, Harriet Brewing has some solid Belgian style beers. They have a great brewery atmosphere and often have live music. It is a fun place with solid beer.
+2 on Harriet. I would also recommend Sociable, Hammerheart, Big Wood and LiftBridge, maybe catching Summit on the way back.
If you are looking for bad beer, and don't mind paying for it - Kinney Creek in Rochester has a pretty strong selection.
I recommend Northbound. I love the beer and the food. Sociable is also fun if you like cider, and I've also enjoyed the beer they brew. I haven't been to Boom Island, but I like their beer, and from the pictures I've seen the taproom looks very nice. Bang is pretty unique. The brewery is in a feed silo sort of thing. Not so much a taproom though, more of a brewery where you order beer. I like it.
Thanks for all of the suggestions, I can't believe I left Harriet and Hammerheart off the list! We're hoping to hit 3-4 over the course of this rainy day. Thanks again everyone!
The BrewFarm's open Today (Father's Day) from 2-8 - come on out for a unique setting and tasty beers!
We ended up hitting 5 taprooms yesterday, but that sounds really tempting! You just might see us over there.
The "Father's Day Taproom Tour" made the run right down Washington: Boom Island Fulton Day Block Town Hall (for dinner) Then hit Dangerous Man on the way home for stouts and porters "for dessert"
You know it! My wife got the Hazelnut Porter and my Dad the Imperial Coconut Milk Stout just to cover our bases.
