I'm just curious if there are any tasting groups made up of BA's in Greenville, SC. If so, I'd like to join you, if not, maybe I'd like to look into starting one. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Papaholmz... check your BA inbox. I sent you a message. I'm game for being part of a Greenville, SC area tasting group.

Ok, right now I'm looking at getting something going for late July/early August. I know that's a ways off, but I have a lot of other things going on over the next few months and I want to make sure that if I get something set up, it's done right.

With that being said. I'm open to some ideas on a theme for this proposed first tasting event?

I'm thinking maybe a Belgian theme as I could provide some decent Belgian beers for the tasting. Any other thoughts/ideas?

Whats up fellas. I currently live near Asheville but in 3 months I will be moving to either Spartanburg or Greenville for a new job at BMW. Definitely keep me updated as I would like to be a part of the tasting event!

I don't post much on here but read constantly, trade a good bit, and would love to get involved in doing some tastings. I live in Greenville. Thanks for trying to organize something good sir!

Congrats on the new job! BMW is a good place to work. And no offense to anyone who lives in Old Sparty, but if I was choosing between G-ville and Sparty, I'd choose Greenville.

Thank you! Im super excited for it as well!
I'm originally from San Diego and when I was staying near the plant for training I definitely preferred Gville over the Burg. But the only people I know in the area live in Spartanburg so my wife is leaning that way. We will see I guess!

Oh, I am interested. Belgians sound nice...but if it is in the summer, maybe something more summery?

That's a good point, but you'll have to give me some ideas; I drink stouts and Belgians every week of the year. Maybe some saisons and wild/sour ales?

Not sure a "theme" is needed beyond bringing a few beers worthy of sharing. My experience at tastings like this is variety makes it special. For the first one in Greenville we should just get people to bring "share worthy" beers. Dig?

So more of a bottle share than a themed tasting? I'm down for that. I definitely have a few bottles that I need to share with some good people. In that case, maybe we could get something together sooner than later.

I might be interested in this as well. A lot going on in May-July for me. Would depend on date but would like to try and make it.

Hey y'all. Been doing a lot more travelling than "BA-ing" lately, but I'd be up for a tasting sometime.

Note- My badass neighborhood beer store in Greenville, The Community Tap, has kicked off a semiregular series of bottle shares. #3 is Thursday, and I'm planning on being there. I missed #2, but #1 was quite a success.

RE: Greenville/Spartanburg... As a fellow BA who moved to SC from a beer-friendly city, I can't strongly enough recommend Greenville over Spartanburg. Not just for beer, but overall, it's no contest. I actually work in Spartanburg, but live in Greenville. The crappy white-knuckle commute on I-85 is worth the tradeoff.

Yeah, i've been considering coming to the bottle share #3 at TCT. How do they run it? If someone shows up with CBS and someone else shows up with Twisted Tea....

Everyone stares at the guy who brought Twisted Tea until he's shamed enough and leaves.

But serously, TCT's bottle shares usually have a good turnout, personnel and bottle wise. (Here is what showed up at the one in March.) I'll be coming up for the night with a bottle of Sanctification and some others.

Missed #1 but #2 was awesome as well. Will be their Thursday night. Come if you can papaholmz. It's good times.

Also, I'm in the same situation as PDXHops. I live in Greenville...well, the Pelham/85 area...and drive to Spartanburg for work. That drive sucks. Living in Greer isn't a bad compromise. It's still close to Greenville and will probably actually put you closer to BMW depending on where you would live in Greenville. Pelham/85 area is only 10 minutes at most from BMW and I can get to Community tap in about 15 minutes. It's a good location. So yeah...yeahitsRUST, go with Greenville/Greer if you can.

    You are the man, Nick.

Yeah, Greer's not a bad little town, and has a solid candidate for a regular "good beer" hangout, too:

I live in Greenville and work in Greer...I recommend it. At least for the real estate prices.

Also, sad I wont be able to make the bottle share at community tap. Graduation and all that. :grinning:

    Congrats on Graduating!

I won't be able to make the bottle share tonight either. But I'm thinking we can get a tasting event set up for late this month or early next. I'll throw out some dates in a bit and see if any body can make them... of course the next thing to figure out would be where to have it. Ideas?
