I've seen many threads on the subject, but I am not able to extrapolate the answer since my lineup is a tad strange. I'm basically hosting a party to clear some room in my beer fridge, so there is no real theme. Your suggestions on a tasting order would be appreciated. Here are the offerings: Saison Dupont Fantome Hiver The Dissident FFF Blackheart 120 Minute AleSmith BA Grand Cru Pretty Things Baby Tree Quad Cantillon Iris
If you need help clearing room in your beer fridge, I'd be happy to take the Dissident and Iris off your hands But unfortunately, the only one of those beers I've ever had was Dupont, so my input is probably not especially valuable. I will say this: in the half dozen tastings that I've planned, I've found that far more important than any specific order or progression of beers is 1) mix up styles, so that you aren't doing to similar styles back to back (i.e., put some space between the Dupont and the Hiver), and 2) have plenty of palate cleansers and water on hand and the order won't be a huge issue.
I like the idea of not combining styles.. But it's just a weird group.. Do I dare but the Dissident and the 120 Minute next to each other? I think I'll just separate my "extremes" with some less potent offerings. And that's nice of you to offer.. But I'm drinkin those fuckers.
